What would you do if your $8000 quoted paint job came back looking like this? Car was completely blasted when it went to bodyshop

It depends on what was discussed, 8k paint job but how much body work was needed?

If the underside was supposed to be show quality then I would be pissed but honestly an 8k paint job that came to me in bare metal requires full epoxy prime, prep in jams and exterior and underside, if you wanted show quality from top to bottom I imagine it would cost 12-15k IMO

Was that 8K just for paint, or did that include metal repairs?

Was the painter trying a new blindfolded technique? maybe his back was hurt and he couldnt bend over to get to the FRONT of the rockers, lol.

If that was my car, it would be going back ASAP.

The runs are in the primer, the dirt in the paint on the floor(that will be carpeted I'm sure) is from the sand blasting. When you sand blast a car it's nearly impossible to remove the silica dust from the interior, however the lack of color in some areas would be my concern, but like I said how much body work was needed......8k can get burnt up fast in a paint shop

the paint isnt the problem its the bare metal inside the frame rails that will be pure rust in 2 years, and the areas you are showing are the underside of panels, how was this car delivered to the painter? was it on a rotissery, it appears from the photos that the car was on a dolley its pretty much im possible to paint the underside of a car like that

No its not a sponsor
As for body work- replace 2 rocker sills and drivers rear quarter. I supplied all parts on top of price.
The sand- car has been blown out and vacuumed well over 30 times as I waited for body shop, also was on rotisserey already and spun and cleaned many of times. I know you still won't get it all but floors have zero primer and looks to be zero prep work which leads me to believe he didn't wash/wipe it down at all.
The frame connectors still have signs of packing tape that came on the bars.
I didn't want to primer or clean anything and left that to the bodyshop as the last time I had a hood painted they blamed my primer

I stated show quality but would not expect dirt to become part of the project. They gave me the estimate which was one of the higher prices I got and I still stressed quality ( I don't becker about pricing as I never want any excuses as I run my own shop and know how that works and where it can get you). they were even shown the quality that was in the wrecked car (body and paint totalled $4500 including when hood flew up on pevious owner) as an example.
Considering there is zero primer on floors or frame or cowl this body will be rotted in no time in my opinion

Here is are the rocker sills
Drivers spot welds on rocker sill looks mint

Heres the passenger sill

If they supposedly ran out of my money then a phone call to discuss would have been great instead of letting this lack of quality leave a shop for this to happen
Looking for suggestions as I ain't a body man and now not sure if they can provide the quality I discussed. They came recommended to me
Will try to get a better camera to show orange peel and fisheyes in the trunk drip rails that arn't covered by weatherstrip

was the 8000 including the replacing the quarter and the rocker work?

yes, they came to shop for quote knowing rockers were rotted and 1/4 had lots of bondo in it and I stressed no bondo. I purchased any parts needed and gave then the 1/4 off our car we wrecked last season

My old car for comparison in case quality wasn't stressed enough. Also they want me to completely assemble before they spray the exterior ( again I stressed I better not have any overspray anywhere period). Whats everyones thoughts on that?

If show quality was agreed upon at the time the quote for $8k I would be sending the car back to get done again the right way. If they knew the job they had when they quoted it then it's it's the shop problem to eat the difference in the work. Not cheap out to make the money last. They under quoted the job by the sounds of it and tried to cheap out a little to make themselves not sound like complete asses by asking for more $$$ mid-way through the job.
