are these worth the money?? they have a life time warranty but are they any good?? :ty:
ive never heard anything bad about them... plus... life time warranty... you cant go wrong
They're better than what you're running now...LOL!
pa's internal components are decent quality, however c-4's are limited to weight & hp, and clutch life is limited. the life time warranty is something of a sales gimmick. you have to pay shipping both ways and something like $250 fee for them to "freshen" your unit up each time. its a life time of job security for them.
By the time your done buying the trans, bell housing, converter, shifter, mount, dipstick, drive shaft, you will have about the same money as a glide or th400 and mid plate, and end up with a trans that will withstand more hp and outlive the c-4 many times over, more constant reaction times, and depending on application, possibly faster et's.
But I understand the resistance of running a gm in a ford.
if he already has a c4 in his car he wont need to buy all that stuff. he will if he switches to a t400, or glide he will. then you need to worry about crossmember, headers, and exhaust bolting up, flywheel balance, bell, shifter, driveshaft and everything else that comes into play with it.
well i talked to who was suposed to be the owner this morning and he claims there is no fee. just send the trans in....but he said there is some things he dosent cover but hasn't had a issue with that yet..so it seems like a deal to me..
Their web site has some information
- Warranty is not transferable.
- Customer pays all shipping costs.
- Warranty work will only be performed by Performance Automatic
Ive had a customer that went through a half a dozen in a season, and they always charged him for repair, but everyones results differ. "some things are not covered"? I wonder if they can supply a list of which "things" they do and don't cover and their prices.
Funny, they don't post that on their web site.
Your right john, if he already has a c-4 in his car, it would definitely be less expensive than swapping out to something else, but not by much. Assuming he already has a sfi flywheel, most are already drilled for a gm converter. I never ran in to any exhaust or header problems/interference with a adaptor plate, but every vehicle is different. if he already has a aftermarket shifter, purchasing brackets for a gm are 25-30 bucks including shipping. Drive shaft, most customers I get are usually going from 300 to 6-700 hp, and need a new one anyway @ 350 bucks.
So for 1600 for a trans, 425 for a adaptor,150 for a cross member, 45 for a dip stick & tube, 20 for a mount, 350 for a drive shaft. Only other things are torqueconverter & cooler. For someone starting from scratch, its near the same cost.
really didnt want a powerglide in the car just seems it would make it boring... and its also a carb motor on race gas and the aod might make it load up street driving?
