I just picked up a 1991 Rs convetible. 5liter TBI 700r4 I had planned to do a bunch of Mods to the car, however I'm Having second thoughts. The car has 150k on it but is Totally unmolested. The only rust on the car is lite surface rust on the core support, and some on the Rear Bumper Brace. I had planned to do the following to it but I'm having doubts because the car is so nice.

I have all the parts on hand (Except the t56)
Frame connector.
S&W Torque arm
J&M Panhard and Lower Control arms
Koni Classics all the way around
install 9 bolt Disk Brake rear end.
460hp 377 SBC Solid Roller motor
TBI Fuel injection Upgrade to the EBL FLash setup from Dynamic EFI
T56 Conversion.

Is the Convertible strong enough to handle this With the Frame connectors? I had orginally planed on a hard to but fell in luv with convertible.

I know they didn't make a ton of Convertible am I messing something up that would be otherwise hard to replace...

Been stewing on this for over a week....... any input would be appreciated.

Its a RS with a tbi motor, they're not very collectible but i wouldn't go making a race car out of it either. It may be worth something 10 years from now but who knows really. I wouldn't mod it to the point of no return, maybe some tasteful mods to make it a cool cruiser? :dontknow:

A few sites centered around f-bodies are www.camaroz28.com and www.thirdgen.org you might want to ask around on there too.

Cut off windshield
Install 25.5 chassis and required netting
Minitub with 10.5's under it.:)

No wait...I'd just do some simple suspension mods like you listed. If you triangulate the subframes and stock subframes that the car came with, it will be stiff. If you want it to be more rigid, you could have someone come through the floor with a sort of double frame rail setup. That would be overkill if that's your thing all while NOT having a rollbar above the door line. These cars are well deserving of a GOOD drivetrain and GM did not give them one. Any well build EFI small block/T56/strong axle combo is good. Make it driveable. If that engine has too much cam, go smaller. A stick car and big cam will be annoying even if the tune is right. Hit it with a 100 shot to make up for lost power and increased driveability. Shocks/springs/rims/tires...lots of options. You can do 9.5" all around with 275/40/17's but the correct offset is needed. Do some research for sure. Koni yellows/eibachs/17" rims is a bit rough from my experience.

Make it driveable is the best advice. I have rims/tires for drag/auto-x/street and having it on the road is always the most fun. As long as you're not in the salt and snow or letting it sit and rust, you're not ruining it!

Or you could just keep it as its 170hp POS TBI engine in it and let it be a disgrace to any camaro name.

no but for real if you have the stuff do it for sure

Post pics! I'll tell you if you should sell it

The Only Rust I can find on the car is On the rear Bumber support... and a little Lite Surface rust on the bottoom of core support.

I'll make him feel good..If you paid less than 15000, you got a deal. That's how much I think of these cars.:)

My least favorite color but wow does it look clean. Keep the stock rims and add MT Drag radials out back.:D It shouldn't be too hard to fit a TB and air cleaner under the hood.

Make a 10 sec daily driver out of it. That is what I would do. Won't get many track passes, though, unless you put a sleeper exhaust sytem on it.
