Open Track Day at Waterford Monday, June 11

The ZL1 rotors were already available, they used to be $1200 a pair when they were just a parts counter option for the V. Now that they come on the ZL1 and the 13 V the price dropped to $6XX a pair. I guess when you buy in production quantities and not just enthusiast aftermarket quantities shit gets way cheaper. Still significantly more than the duo-cast though.

There is a two piece rotor for my car as well, the problem with it is that the rotor ring isn't replacable, have to replace the whole thing, doesn't make those a cost effective option at all. And since the ZL1 and '13 V's come with the two piece, my rotor replacing situation will probably get more expensive before it gets cheaper. I should stock up on the duo-cast rotors before they obsolete them.

I do NOT recommend the duo-cast rotors for track use. In my previous job I did brake cooling and those were NOT intended for track use. Unless you want to safety wire a giant washer over the hole in the co-cast centers to assure the air is flowing through the cooling vanes. I would stick with the 2 piece rotors. They have much better cooling and thus track performance. When those were first released there was supposed to be a recommendation to only use the duo cast for street use and the 2-piece for track use. Not sure if that ever happened. Or if they somehow proved the duo cast were OK for the track. Just passing along what I remember.

I will be extending the brake ducts to act more directly rather than blowing in the general direction before tracking the car. Lots of people track on them without issue, the serious guys recommend cooling, I didn't need someone to recommend that before doing it though.

Alright guys, lots of talk about brakes. Now it's time to sign up. :pimp: Even if you can't sign up, come on out to track for a bit and see what it's all about. We'll give you a ride.

I wasn't going to run any track events this year due to life getting in the way. But damn it life is to short to always drive the spend limit. I'll be there.

Car won't be sorted out by then, still toying with wheel/tire options (Scooter, I'll call you this weekend on that mounted tire). Looking to see if I can make the July WH open track day. I've never tracked an Auto car before so it should be interesting with an auto car and a 3600 stall converter :D.. It'll have cop bars and cop brakes on it though..

Sounds like we picked up a couple guys. Great. We are less than two weeks away now. I'm looking forward to another short work week.
