Old school mini bike

This thing has been in our family for around 30 years I traded an old car stereo/tapedeck for it. That must have been around 1986 or 87. Then one weekend I needed some beer money so I sold it to my little brother for five bucks lol. That being said I think it may have been built in the 60's or 70's. Recently my Dad asked me what we wanted to do with that rusty old mini bike in his garage lol. So I threw it in the back of my truck and took it home. Here's some progress so far.

Had to order an old carb and hose it down with parts cleaner

And a new seat is on its way!

Welcome to the Minibike club... I need to get my bikes back to my house.
Let me know if you need help or need parts. Between Dragula and I, I am sure we have you covered.

^ Seriously you could find them out in the trash back in the day, now they want 500 bucks for some of them lol

After lots of degreasing and some chrome polish its starting to come back around again. Also the new seat finally showed up.

Check out Howards Outdoor on 9 and Ryan, their prices are cheaper than all of the online shops if you need any parts. I've bought everything for mine there. They have a website too, https://www.howardsoutdoor.com/

Its funny, every day .... twice a day a guy goes by my shop on Groesbeck riding a mini bike (must drive it to and from work each day) .... it has no exhaust so you can hear it a mile away.... damm thing does about 50mph... we laugh about it when we hear it...

They can be pretty fast. Mine does a little over 50 as it is now, will go faster swapping out sprockets. Sounds like half a Harley  There are a few out there breaking 100MPH in the 8th mile.

Thanks guys, I'll have to checkout that Howard's place.

They're really great. I don't think they carry a lot for that Briggs you have, but they have everything for Hondas and Honda clones (Predator 212). Briggs engines are really expensive to build compared to the Honda clones, so if you want to go fast you might want to consider storing away the Briggs and grabbing a Predator 212 Hemi from Harbor Freight. They're governed to 3600RPM, but that can be remedied. Remove the governor, but if you do, make sure you get a billet rod and billet flywheel. The stock parts don't hold up so well past the governed RPM. You don't want to impale your balls on a cast aluminum rod or get shrapnel wounds from an exploding cast flywheel  It's relatively easy to get 15HP+ out of a Honda or Honda clone.

Hosed down the little 2hp with a few cans of carb/parts cleaner, then sanded through 3 layers of old paint and then hit it with some flat black.
The new hand grips came in over the weekend but needed a couple little burs filed down for smoother operation.
