I drive an import... it's a Subaru. Four doors, very black, somewhat low-key. It sounds more like a Honda than a typical rumbling Subaru, thanks to the equal length manifold.
Driving *normally* around town, I seem to consistently attract idiots/jerks in LX chassis cars (Charger, Magnum, 300C... some SRT-8, some not).
Recent examples:
1) I'm driving north on Woodward, in the rightmost lane. I catch the light at Catalpa. Two lanes to the left, a groups of kids in a 300C SRT-8 decide to let everyone know that their exhaust can make noise... I guess they were trying to get my attention. Once the light turns green, they take off aggressively... I drive normally, shifting at ~3k rpm.
Frustrated that I didn't "go" from the light, they get next to me, trying to entice me to race...
Driver: "You wanna run 'em?" [insert hard-ass look here]
Me: "No thanks, it's not worth the ticket."
Driver: "What? Are you scared?"
Me: "No, I would have no problem beating your car... it's just not worth my time."
This exchange continues back and forth for a bit, until the drive finally lets loose this gem:
Driver: "C'mon, it's not even my car!"
Me: "What? You're out here swinging someone *else's* dick?"
Driver: "Fuck you!"
Me: "OK. Here's my turn. You guys have fun!" [wave]
Wow... anyway...
2) Just yesterday, I'm driving eastbound on Maple, when I catch a light next to an orange metallic Charger R/T. Again, I'm driving *normally*... I've even got my dog in the backseat.
The light turns green, and the guy in the Charger takes off at a quick pace. The car sounds pretty nice. We catch the next light, and I roll down my window...
Me: "Hey, that's one of the best sounding Chargers I've heard."
He not only doesn't look at me AT ALL, but he also rolls his eyes as he quickly takes off again. OK, whatever, jerk... I was trying to compliment your car. It's just funny to think that if I were wanting to "race", I would easily hand him his ass.

I guess, overall, I'm just amazed that there is still this stupid "us versus them" attitude. I know it happens on both sides of the fence, but I would like to think that I can tell the difference between a tard in a near-stock Z28 who thinks he's got the fastest thing on the planet and a nicely/properly set up F-body. It would be nice to see someone on the "other" side of the fence know the difference between another bodykitted mess and a clean import with potential.
Hell, most people think I'm driving a regular WRX.
So, what gives?
