Oil pump shaft fell Into oil pan I believe -__-

I know you all are going to laugh... but try to hold it in lol. Is it a common problem for the Oil pump shaft to fall into the oil pan? Easiest way (I know they're all generally difficult) to retrieve it?
 
I do not want to pull the motor.. Best bet would be to use a telescoping magnet..? I cant see it but i'm pretty sure its in my oil pan. If its in my oil pan does it "have" to come out...
 
I dont think they will fall all the way down, pretty sure it gets stuck between the index bore and the oil pump housing itself before it complete falls thru. I've had them fall down like that and always been able to fish them back up somehow and re-set them in the oil pump drive.
