I had the opportunity to speak with the Huntington Woods PD today to discuss past situations that have occurred and to make sure we're all on the same page this year. As I'm sure we can all understand/agree, it's a brutal week/weekend for the law enforcement folks working during that time. I know in the past that the officers have visited our lot and gave us a heads up that we'd need to wrap up around a certain time etc. At the end of the day, we need to make sure we're packed up and ready to go when the cruise officially stops at 9PM on Saturday(10PM on Friday) and we'll need to be prepared to leave the lot at that point. This year, there is a new officer in charge of the event and he'll be stopping by to check in with us during the day and may stop by near the end if time allows to give us a heads up that it's getting near time to roll out. I'm putting my personal reputation on the line with these folks and I hope that we can all abide by my/their ask(myself included) so that we can continue to use this lot without problems in the future. So essentially no change, except that they will nicely ask us to leave the lot instead of swat style tossing us out. I just don't understand why if we have permission to be there that they feel the need to boot us. If i was the lot owner, i sure as hell would not be leaving my lot whenever they thought it necessary. But i do understand keeping good graces with the lot owner, but legally the PD has no right to remove us from private property, especially if not called by the property owner. Just like they can't issue us a ticket for any collision accidents that occur on private property.
It's amazing that we don't get kicked out of Simple Mortgage when they flush the public parking spots every Friday at 10:30

I hear ya and agree with with your saying, the business owner actually went and visited them this morning as well and he and I are on good terms. Since we're so close i didn't want to push the issue based on past situations that have occurred. It's worth it for our own sake to avoid any potential issues this year and try to mend some past issues. I'm confident that we can work out something different next year, I'm phoning in a favor to an attorney friend who will represent us for next year. I'll talk more about it in person on Cruise day.
