Official College Football 2015 Thread!

Anytime you let a team with no timeouts go 90 yards in under a minute you deserve to loose. I was very disappointed with MSU's performance last night....they couldn't run the ball and their defense was a sieve.

No timeouts? More like this stupid rule of the clock stopping after getting a 1st down. That's a free time out. What a dumb rule. If this was played by NFL rules the game would have been done.

This is all I have to say about this...

Funny how the biggest UM slappie here cares more about MSU losing than his own squad winning
Proof? We won a game handily that we should have. Am I supposed to fawn over that? We've lost 2 games, one we should have and one we shouldn't have, but either way, I've commented equally about the games played.

Unlike Mike, who wins, and loses, with reasonable grace, You-know-who just keeps banging out his usual keyboard venom
Ummm??? I realize OSU players didn't come to play school and all that, but try to keep your inane babbling to situations where you can't be proven wrong.
Bwahahahahahahaha!!!

Dantonio cryin y'all
As Ryan mentioned... MSU has been gifted with fortunate calls, lucky breaks and flat out miracles all season. Crying about one call after the luck they've had all season? GTFO

As for OSU, they beat a determined Minnesota team, but didn't look all that good doing it. Hopefully JT will sober up, (I'll save Ryan the keystrokes by saying it first),
So let me get this straight... You say I post things, then refute it just to be Seditionary (see, I can use big words too) and that's why my posts are inane, but when you do it, it's ok because?

let me give you a multiple choice answer sheet since you need help.
A. UM fans are living rent free in my head and I feel the need to lash out at them. This is a common symptom in OSU fans who aren't either terrorist or rational
B. Because I feel being hypocritical is the only way I can be on the same level as my rivals
C. Let's not talk about this any more. You've proven your point and I conceed.

Now that that's done. I am enjoying every minute of this loss. MSU has gotten by weekly by the skin of their teeth. Week after week we've heard how a win is a win. It's obvious the Playoff Committee didn't take MSU serious and gave them an unofficial loss for the Michigan game. Despite this, Spartan fans have lived on fantasy island. After the Michigan game they couldn't say fast enough that the final score is all that matters and that officiating isn't an excuse for losing. They were still playoff bound and were going to go undefeated.

The final score in most games doesn't begin to tell the story. There are only 2 games MSU has played where the score showed how good MSU was.
Western
Air Force
The remainder of their games have been very close (most less than 1 score lead going into the 4th or they won by pulling a rabbit out of their hat with a few minutes or seconds left).

I'm still going to make fun of them for losing to Nebraska.

All that said, this opens up the B1G big time.

IF MSU wins out, they go to the B1G Championship. They could potentially walk into the CFP still if they show dominating performance over OSU, PSU, and the CCG
IF OSU wins out, it's all over. They will be in the B1G Championship. They win that and they will be in the CFP
IF UM wins out (Big IF because PSU is unpredictable and that game is at PSU), They will likely be in the B1G Championship. Depending on how the rest of the season plays out, it's unlikely UM makes the playoff, but a convincing win over OSU and in the B1G championship could put them in the talks of it.

Personally I think OSU beats MSU and UM beats OSU and PSU (I'm actually more confident in a victory over OSU than PSU at this point). Depending on the final ranking, UM could be headed to the B1G Championship to face likely Iowa. ***EDIT*** i just realized that with MSU losing to Neb, if UM wins out, they go to the B1G Championship Game outright as it would be a tie with OSU and they would have the tie breaker win over OSU.

If this was played by NFL rules, this would be the NFL, not College Football. I don't understand complaining about this. If this was the case, MSU would have never had time to try to come back. And if we play the "Well, the clock would have been running all game" then there's no way to tell what would have happened. I suppose if you say all things are equal (meaning scores happened in the same order and for same values at same time) and assuming 1 - 1.5 minutes of burn time for resetting the sticks each quarter. (I used 1.5 minutes since I have no bearing on how long it takes to reset the sticks after each first down)

End of the first quarter: MSU 0 - Neb 10
End of the second quarter: MSU 10 - Neb 13
End of Third quarter: MSU 24 - Neb 20
End of Fourth quarter: MSU 31 - Neb 33

Why too many mistakes on defense. MSU should have beat Nebraska. The call was horrible. BUT, the poor defensive play in general cost them the game. Give credit to Nebraska for not giving up. MSU let them stay in the game and it cost them. I feel bad for Conner Cook because he's playing his ass off.

Nebraska did what Michigan didn't do. They took advantage of an inexperience secondary. If MSU loses to OSU, this will be the reason why...And if MSU beats OSU, it will be because they DIDN'T take advantage.

as a mich fan i'm just happy to see that if they can find a way to win out they will play for the BIG championship.

having said that i still think osu wins the BIG.

i also agree that if things keep trending the way they are currently that peppers will be in the heisman conversation to start next season. for all the people that hate on recruiting this is why you get exited when you land 5 star recruits, sure they don't always pan out but when they do you can have a legit superstar on your team. if i remember correctly peppers and fournette were 2 of the top 3 recruits in the country 2 years ago.

Fournette was headed for the heisman until last night

Big 10 has reviewed the call in the Spartan's game and concluded it was called correctly. While I think it's semantics, if you watch the replace from the back you can see contact which could have potentially pushed the receiver out or caused him to redirect his approach which caused him to go out. So technically I think they are wrong, but technically if they had called it the other way I could see how that would have been wrong as well. Either way, I don't care as it put Michigan for the most part in direct control of their own destiny.

Michigan doesn't control their own destiny yet. MSU has to lose again and Michigan has to win out.

That's why i said for the most part. MSU doesn't have an easy time of it either. They have to beat both OSU and PSU. Unless they miraculously begin to call aggressive plays and learn how to defend the pass that won't happen. Could happen, yes, but I don't see them making it through that (In the shoe now less) without another loss.

It's pretty obvious that MSU's secondary is turrble while Michigan's is strong. Michigan matches up better with PSU and OSU than State does. It will be an interesting month, that's for sure.

You do realize that due to injuries that MSU started three true freshman on Saturday vs Nebraska, right? The should have a CB back (Darien Hicks) for the Maryland game.

Yes. That doesn't change the very passive play calling on both sides of the ball.

Connor Cook didn't exactly play lights out at the beginning of the game. When open receivers weren't dropping the ball he was overthrowing them.

The law of averages took a step toward balancing the world in that game. MSU had been living by close games and Nebraska had been dying by them. I really thought MSU was going to pick off the 2 point conversion at the end and return it to win. Then with 17 seconds left and just needing a field goal I thought them getting that was a sure thing. Nebraska has trained me to doubt them until the end of the game this year.

Every Nebraska fan on the planet had flash backs to the Texas Big XII title game when Cook threw that out of bounds to run out the clock. That ball hit something right after the clock hit zero. It seems stupid but the guy on the MSU sideline that jumped to try to catch the ball almost gave them a chance at another play. If he could have touched that ball there would have been a second or two on the clock for them to attempt the 57 yard field goal, or whatever pretty long distance it would have been.

OSU 41-MSU 21.

UM 31-OSU 27.

Sadly, I think this is UM's year to pull off the victory in The Game. Were it in C-bus, I'd reverse the score, but UM is going to play lights out at home....

I hope I'm wrong.....:mmm:

I actually don't disagree with the scores either. I think MSU gets clobbered by OSU (and maybe an upset by PSU). I'm still very concerned with playing in happy valley. On the upside, it's not a night game.

Video released of JT's arrest. In it he attempts to get the police to let him off because he's the Ohio State QB (this is after he tried to run from going through a checkpoint). A couple things about this entire event.

1. the video does nothing to hurt OSU or the police as JT is just stupid for trying it. it speaks volumes though to his character. It's one thing to ask for mercy it's an entirely different thing to request special treatment because of who you are. JT needs to learn responsibility and humility.
2. As more and more information comes out, it's apparent that Urban gave preferential treatment to JT in this situation. Per the OSU code of conduct handbook, if a player receives a DUI and it's their first offense they are to miss 1 week of competition. On their second offense, they are to miss 2. After that it's dismissal. In the situation where a minor receives a DUI, it moves right to second offense. JT is a minor and as such should have missed 2 weeks of competition. He only missed 1.

Personally, any DUI by any player on any team should be a year ban from playing. But I seem to be in the minority who thinks putting peoples lives at risk isn't just something that should be brushed to the side with the same enthusiasm as saying "Boys will be boys ha ha ha". This isn't just a problem of making a bad decision. it's making a life altering decision that in more times than not, affects others more than it affects the one driving drunk.
