On the bright side, it's also apparent that Harbaugh has done a great job with Michigan. Considering we weren't even in the game last year and this year, save for stupid penalties and a near impossible ending we would have won, I'd say that's progress. To that point, this is more like the old days when Michigan dominated the series. It would take some off the wall impossible thing (or help from the clock keeper) for MSU to win. Next year MSU will be pretty decimated so we'll see what happens then. Playing in EL isn't easy, but Give us an actual QB and we'll see how it turns out.

Yeah I don't think any of us anticipated being the favorite to win that game or have it as close as it was when this season started. We're still going to have a 2 or 3 loss season and go to a bowl game. Not bad for his first year.

More cool history.

It may be very sad at Michigan, but the Wolverines do have a bright side, although it’s also a little spooky. In 1969, the first season under Bo Schembechler, the Wolverines lost to a very good nonconference opponent early (No. 9 Missouri); lost to Michigan State; and then won the rest of their regular-season games, including an upset of the defending national champion, No. 1 Ohio State. Schembechler was Jim Harbaugh’s college coach and mentor, and now is his role model. Harbaugh really is following in Bo’s footsteps.

l. Harbaugh really is following in Bo’s footsteps.

so what your saying is, He will focus on winning Heismans and rosebowls (only won 2 out of 10), Ignore the national championship and have a 5% undefeated season record. and that season had a tie , Bo never had a perfect season

.796 regular-season winning percentage,
his bowl record 5-12,
2-8 in the Rose Bowl.

Seven down, eight to go...

I haven't even seen the play yet. I was at a friends house and left after MSU turned the ball over on downs. I was called as I was getting on the freeway. I thought I was being bullshitted until I turned on the radio. Unbelievable!!! The bad part? The kid who scored the touchdown got a broken hip from everyone piling on top of him.

As for the $50 bet, I will be satisfied with proof of a $50 contribution to the Human Society.

Sparty On! Bring on Ohio State! I guess the AP will knock MSU down to #20 for playing another chump team too close...

Assuming that you meant the Humane Society.... classy move. Here you go

You are funny! How are we going to be decimated?

You realize your messiah cost you that game right? Who were the outside 'gunners' going down the field after? MSU had 11 guys up front. Did Harbaugh think MSU was going to set up a return? Harbaugh had 6 or 7 guys trying to block 11. Where was the max protection? That was coaching, or a lack of it. Harbaugh is blaming the refs and throwing his punter under the bus. MSU was decimated NOW. How many were out with injuries and didn't play? And you still couldn't beat us. How about the three pass interference penalties that weren't called. How about the last touchdown that UM didn't cross the goal line three straight times? What about Smith ILLEGALLY pushing Houma across the line 5 minutes after the play ended (wait, he'll get there sooner or later)? How about the QB who couldn't find his best target (Butt).

I was told MSU would fall back after 2010 (and 2011, and 2013, etc.). Get used to it. We have a coach who HATES Michigan. You were exposed on defense and out coached on offense. Your special teams almost won the game for Michigan (until the last play). Are you going to get a miracle freshmen QB? Maybe one of the other 7 retreads... MSU will have a redshirt junior and a senior fighting it out to start. Jeez, MSU had two true freshmen playing the safety spots yesterday and Michigan couldn't take advantage. That is also coaching. I'm enjoying the Harbaugh era already. What's Hoke doing these days?

whatever helps you sleep at night.

I sleep fine. How well have you slept since 2008? Or even Saturday night?

i sleep just fine also.

so which one is it? is beating michigan old hat because they suck? because thats what spartan fans say, or is it the greatest thing to ever happen? because thats how they act.

I will say that if MSU went 1-11 and that one victory was over Michigan, I would be happy. A great weekend? MSU winning, UM losing and Notre Dame losing. We had a good weekend getting 2 out of 3...

Harbaugh didn't cost the us the game. He's also not throwing the punter under the bus. Do you even know what the phrase "Throw someone under the bus" means? You've been spending too much time on the internet, and as is normal for you, can't even get your facts right.

1: The bush push is legal now. It's not illegal as you state and hasn't been for . The play is live till a whistle is blown, except in the situation where it becomes prudent to call a personal foul, in which case the whistle is strictly an optional standard.
2: MSU is slated to lose 16 seniors this year plus whomever leaves early or transfers out. Doesn't mean they will suck, but definitely doesn't mean they will be dominant. They also lost the entire soul of their defense when Narduzzi left.

Exposed on Defense? By what? That you have one receiver that could catch the ball? By the fact that you couldn't run if your life depended on it? You think it exposes a team when they allow a score? MSU's offense is middle of the pack and looked just like that in the game. One sided. In case you don't remember, MSU couldn't move the ball till the phantom targeting call pulled our top tackler off the field. Cook completed 13.3% of his passes when on Michigan's side of the field. I wouldn't exactly call that being exposed, unless you mean by being exposed that they had one hell of a game. MSU averaged 1.8 yards per rush and 7.8 yards per pass. These are almost exactly the same stats as Michigan. So explain the word exposed.

Exposed on Offense? You realize that our overly conservative QB who can't make a pass beyond 20 yards hit a couple deep balls. We couldn't even do that against UNLV. So who exactly is getting exposed?

Again, facts aren't your strong suit. Our QB stable is going to be one of the best in the league next year.

  • Shane Morris ('16, '17*)
  • John O'Korn ('16, '17)
  • Wilton Speight ('16, '17, '18*)
  • Zach Gentry ('16, '17, '18, '19*)
  • Alex Malzone ('16, '17, '18, '19*)
  • Brandon Peters ('17, '18, '19, '20*)
  • Vic Viramontes ('17, '18, '19, '20*)
    * assuming 5th year given

Add to that the rumors that Taysom Hill is transferring here after this season and you're looking at a very good qb setup with a lot of competition.

When it comes down to it, Swift's response is typical of the sav-a-lot Sparties. Their fan base was formed in 2007 and they don't see the writing on the wall. Michigan is back and only going to get better.

As usual, you are in denial. Look at the replays. MSU had 10 plays on the line of scrimmage. Michigan has 5 (8 if you count the three guys behind the line). I think O'Neil can count and see what's coming. Two guys got in completely untouched. All you have to do is get a kick off. There is no safety back to catch the ball. They came out of a timeout and came up to two guys running down the field instead of in to protect the punter. THAT is coaching! That was the messiah! This was the 7 million dollar man! Yes, the punter dropped the ball. But the coach blew the call on protections. Who's fault is that? The punters? Who made the call???

MSU's offense rolled up 386 yards on the vaunted Michigan defense. Michigan got 230 yards. MSU has twice as many first downs (20 vs 10). Your defense had an average offense roll up this many numbers?

MSU's defense had TWO freshmen safeties. Michigan's coaches couldn't tell who's on the field? No one thought it would be a good idea to target the freshmen? Was their coverage THAT good? Again, THIS is a coaching issue.

You think MSU's team is all seniors? Again, you guys said that the 2010 team, the 2011 team, the 2012 team, etc, etc, etc, would cause the crash of the team. It hasn't. Sparty just reloads at this point. As for Michigan's QB's, it's funny that you'll either have Shane Morris, who couldn't beat out Ruddock, John O'Korn, who couldn't beat out Ruddock and a bunch of freshmen. I'm sure everyone will be jealous...

o'korn can't play this year do to transfer rules, otherwise he might be the starter now as i have read a few places that people "on the inside " think that he is clearly the best qb on the roster.

i've seen plenty of people bring up the yardage numbers and all i have to say about that is special teams.

michigans kicking game gave them short fields on offense and put msu in a position where they would have to go on long drives to score points. do the math here, mich had 5 scoring drives, 2 td's 3 fg's, despite only having 230 yards of offense. msu had 3 scoring drives all td's. how does that happen? mich outgained msu 3 to 1 on return yardage, thats how.

msu's 386 only got them 21 points. so if they "rolled up" so many yards why would they have lost if the game if mich executes the punt on the final play? because of where the drives were starting. sure, they moved the ball between the 30's but couldn't put points on the board. while that might look good on the stat sheet to have 20 first downs, the objective while playing offense is to score points. speaking of that, how many points did they score on there last 2 drives when their offense could have won the game for them? wait for it.......0, none.

the game came down to the last play, and the most impactful event during that play was the punter dropping the ball and then trying to pick it up and kick anyway. if you believe thats great coaching on msu's side then god bless you because i can't argue with that logic, or lack there of.

I'm saying it's poor coaching to have 'gunners' on the outside running down the field instead of blocking. THAT is coaching. As for return yardage, that absolutely had a lot to do with the game. It almost won you the game. Of course it DID cost you the game. The player just not dropping on the ball is coaching. Who's the coach?

Harbaugh bitched about the refs. Lewis should have been called for three pass interference calls against Burbridge.
