Official College Football 2015 Thread!

It was nice to see MSU get two late players they were targeting. Getting Peat was directly related to the recruiting done by Brian Lewerke.

Buckeye's look like they're recruiting well.........
by misleading recruits...

Cliff notes: OSU recruits Weber away from Michigan and then the day after NSD, it's announced that their RB coach is going to the Chicago Bears. Like this didn't know that the night before? Just chose not to reveal it to kids about to sign on for 4 years? Lame.

From Weber's high school coach (basically saying Urban will not be welcome back to their school to recruit)

"I think Urban Meyer is going to have to step his game up [if he wants to come back here again]. He's going to have to come down here, we're going to have to talk. We're going to have to meet. Because he just came here to my school and got the number one athlete, got an All-American athlete out of my school, two years in a row; number one player in the state. I think that's big. I think that's real big for the university," Wilcher said.

"But the most important thing is you can not come up here, come up to the north, and walk out of here with your pockets full and no give us respect. That's the most important thing right now. You have to respect us. You can't just walk all over us. That's not going to happen again. I can tell you that right now."

"I talked to the recruiting coach already. I really haven't gotten my words together for Coach Urban Meyer. I'm really kind of hoping he calls me. That's what I'm really waiting for. This is a very tough situation. I can tell you right now, Mike Weber's not happy. I can tell you right now his family is not very happy. But they're teaching him morals and values and standards right now. Because Coach Drayton ,he's supposed to want to go get a higher job. That's just how it is. I'm not mad at Coach Drayton. I'm not mad at him at all, I'm mad at the protocol. That's what I'm mad about," he added.

Much ado about nothing.....Just the usual sourgrapes types trying to get in the kids head. The rb coach ain't the coach who lead the team to a NC. If Weber is as good as advertised, he'll be fine.

Meyer 1 Harbaugh 0.....Get used to the concept....

Only it really is an issue. Meyer is being a total snake. (Big surprise.) He has 91 scholarship offers out, but only 85 to give. He's over recruited and it going to have to take away scholarships to meet NCAA rules. Pretty shitty thing to do to the kids, no? It's common place in the SEC, but not in the B1G.

He's garbage. But then again so is that University.

I don't think it's much ado about nothing when the recruit in question says he is "hurt as hell" and that he feels mislead. Again, there's no way that Urban and Co didn't know the RB coach was leaving and intentionally withheld that from the kids until after signing day. That's a really shitty thing to do to those kids who obviously trusted them

He's getting a free ride at one of the top universities in the country, not to mention that he gets to play football for the defending National Champions. If he's "hurt", it's because whomever was recruiting him has advised him that he should be....If he ends up being good enough to showcase his talent in a top tier Bowl game, this will all be irrelevant. So they lost their rb coach...Really? Big deal....:shake:

This sort of things always brings out the ambulance chasers.....Nothing to see here....move along....

welcome to Ohio State Mikey!

he chose to sign with them. he's getting what he wanted, and probably what he deserves. just wait until he gets injured or under performs and they get rid of him.

how about this

It's a sad state of affairs when Michigan alum care more about Ohio State players than Ohio State fans. :shake:

Sorry....I'm failing to make the connection here....:dunno:

A few malcontents blow things out of proportion because their team drew the short straw....How does that make me insensitive?....:headscrat

I guess if my team was 1-10 against their biggest rival I'd be grasping at straws too......

Harbaugh acting like we all knew he would....Can't even come up with an original comment........

Come on Jim... I know you're smarter than this. Had this been the other way around... I would have been openly critical of of it... actually downright embarrassed. It's a shameful move.

I really haven't read much about it, other than what's been written here....

It's been a slow day at work....arguing with my peeps has made the day speed by....;)

There's not much more to read about it. The RB coach was "heavily involved" in the recruiting process, according to Weber and his high school coach. The day after NSD, they announce he has accepted a position with the Bears. Obviously Meyer and Crew knew about this... they just chose not to announce it until after the kids signed. The timing of it smacks of deceit and deception of the kids.

It's just a snake kinda move... no other way to put it.

Rumor has it that the OSU football team has 12 more recruits than scholarships to offer. So 12 kids who signed won't be attending on a scholarship to OSU as promised. Just a rumor I heard this morning.

Well....Here's an unbiased slant on the Weber recruiting situation. I'll highlight a few points that the UM faithful have conveniently omitted. The fact that his hs coach is a former UM player explains why he's so butt-hurt and feels the need to take full advantage of his 15 minutes of non-anonymity.

By God....We're the University of Michigan...(aka Hypocrisy U).

The Weber-Drayton saga is getting attention because it's the most recent case, and because it involves Ohio State and Michigan. Weber's high school coach is a former Michigan player. Weber is the second player in the last two years to go from Wilcher's program to Columbus.

If Meyer didn't have Ohio State rolling the way he does, Ohio State wouldn't even get a call back from the best high school talent in Michigan. If Meyer didn't have Ohio State rolling the way he does, he wouldn't have seen two assistants leave for head-coaching gigs and two more go to the NFL.

Meyer's job is to keep the machine rolling. He could release Weber from his letter and go to Michigan, but that would require slowing that machine for at least a second. Don't count on it happening. Chances are, it wouldn't happen if the schools involved weren't Ohio State and Michigan.

A healthy Ohio State - Michigan rivalry is good. A kid getting deceived is not. But Weber is neither the first, nor the last, to have a sour recruiting experience, to feel empty or misled, to enter a situation with a position coach who didn't recruit him.

Why do college coaches who flirt with NFL vacancies or bigger, fancier, higher-paying college jobs work like crazy to keep those flirtations secret?

Recruiting.

Recruiting is the lifeblood of any program. Recruiting starts too early and too often ends ruthlessly.

It happens every year. At every level.

Blame the business. Blame the rules. But don't blame Meyer.

It's his job to go get the next star recruit.

Your "unbiased" slant comes from a born and raised Ohio guy who covers the Buckeyes for Fox Sports Ohio

Neither of the articles I read mentioned the fact that the Cass Tech guy was a former Wolverine. That certainly may explain him blasting OSU. Still doesn't change that what was done was pretty shitty, deceitful to the kids and has obviously upset Weber.

And in other news......

Seriously.....you guys kill me....Lmao!

Jim Harbaugh hired mom of transfer considering Michigan

Jim Harbaugh will apparently go to extreme lengths to land a football player.

As originally pointed out by Nick Baumgardner of MLive.com, Harbaugh has hired the mom of a Stanford graduate transfer considering Michigan. Gwendolyn Bush, the mother of former Cardinals’ cornerback Wayne Lyons, has been hired by Harbaugh to an athletics player development staff position.
