Official 2015 Formula 1 thread

Meh. Never could get into open wheel racing. I've been to Indy, seen vintage F1 cars at Road America, and watched Indycar racing at Loudon but I prefer sportscar / endurance racing.

Formula 1?
Yes.... Have seen all practice, qualifying and races.
McLaren fan so not having a good time.
Gonna be a long season.

Yeah, definitely sucks for McLaren... two great drivers, but they are sooo far behind the curve. Mixing it up for P13 = ugh. But it's a really good thing for the sport's long term future to have another engine manufacturer. As we are seeing with the Renault fiasco, limited teams = too easy for one to dominate.

On the plus side, it sounds like the chassis is pretty good. Honda is just down on power right now, for what sounds like reliability concerns or simply getting testing miles done. McLaren may come on in the second half of the season.

Not likely...... You can only make changes to components not yet raced.
At this point they are running 2nd and 3rd components after 3 races.
They will be taking huge penalties by the time they are done "with testing".

They may be running them on conservative engine maps right now.

McLaren couldn't be more of a disaster if they tried. It's hard to discern what's worse; the F1 team or the car company. This is an organization that ensures you couldn't pull the footprint of a fly off a bazillion windows at Woking, yet has ruinously damaged their road car brand while scraping the bottom of the barrel in the showcase motorsport that legitimizes their entire operation.

I like for any alternative for Ferrari to succeed, but damn does McLaren make things difficult.
