Official 2010 Michigan State Football thread

All weekend I heard that Wisconsin would most likely go to the Rose Bowl because they beat Ohio State, and therefore Ohio State should never leap over Wisconsin to go to the big game...but Wisconsin lost to MSU...so :wtf:

I admit I don't follow college football (mainly because of stuff like this...I hate how the BCS is set up). Did MSU have an easier season than Wisconsin? I guess I just don't understand - when you look at the three teams this season:

MSU beat Wisconsin
Wisconsin beat Ohio State
MSU didn't play Ohio State

So confusing...they should just go to a playoff system and be done with it.

Don't be bitter because the Wolverines could barely a division 1 high school

Barely what? Anyone here translate for me?

MSU probably had the best win of the three, over Wisconsin, but they also had the worst loss against Iowa. They dropped bad after that loss and never recovered. BCS determines who goes where, and it's all about draw and money. MSU just doesn't draw like the other two schools.

Doesn't matter, only 2 big ten teams can go to BCS bowls, and the BCS standings determines that. MSU can't leap either Wis or OSU, and OSU most certainly won't be passed up at bowl selection time. Too bad, so sad for MSU. Enjoy the crappiest 1/3 of the big ten title possible.

And all you U of M blowhards can enjoy that www.whogivesafuck.com bowl they'll play in...

I was trying to find strength of schedule for each team, but didn't see anything. I'm sure MSU losing latest in the season of the three didn't help them either.

Awwhhhh JS your so upset, go cry to your Bo Schembechler poster it will be ok one day

I don't cry to it, I pray to it. Pray that Harbaugh will come here and put the fear of God into Danonito and his band of merry criminals. Until then, I'll spend my days trying to comprehend your last post. :P

Uhh, what? Ever been to MSU for a football game?

yep and they dont all sell out that often

http://www.lansingstatejournal.com/...ndance-still-high-sellouts-remain-rare-though

Nine of 27 home games during the Mark Dantonio era have been sellouts.

•Between 1999 and 2007, there was never more than one home sellout per season

•While MSU is in the top 20 or so in home attendance each year these days, the Spartans’ ranking was never out of the top 10 from 1956-75.

•No season has ever produced as many as 62,000 season tickets purchased in the 75,005 seat stadium.

•And in the so-called glory years, MSU had no sellouts in 1965 and three in ’66.

Many empty seats are in the student sections, where admittance to the stadium is slowed at times by security people being careful to not let those with too much alcohol consumption place themselves in harm’s way. That policy is not restricted to students, but their sections are the last ones occupied.

This IS all true. But there are a couple things to keep in mind;

1) They don't sell out every game, but the still end up with 70,000+ in the stadium, game in and game out. Yes, the nosebleed seats go wanting, but a lot of that is 40 years of disappointment. I will be disappointed in the next few years if this doesn't change.

2) The thing with finishing within the 10 in attendence nationally from '56-'75 is a byproduct of the size of the stadium and the sizes of other stadiums thru out the country. Like Michigan and OSU have increase the seating, many others have too. I might be wrong, but I thought MSU decreased the seating during the renovation.

Yes, it would be nice to sell those last 2,000 or 3,000 seats, but I doubt MSU is losing sleep over it.
