Odometer on my grand marquis froze up..

So i finally sold the 325ix bimmer, it was a head ache and i didn't have the money to keep up with it. Just picked up a 92 grand marquis for a real good price, very clean, nothing wrong with it. I've put about 1,000 miles on it in the past month and just last night yesterday i put gas in it, and reset the trip meter like i do every time i put gas in it. And as i'm driving i notice neither the trip or the odometer are moving. This morning i drove it again and the trip meter works again, but the odometer still isn't moving.

can something get knocked loose in the dashboard to cause this? I want to fix it a.s.a.p because the bimmer had a frozen odometer and thats a huge breaking point in the resale value of it.. and this car has relatively low miles on it so i'd like to keep it up in good shape.

just wondered if anyone knows what can cause this or how it works.

Thanks

lol i plan on keeping this car for a while i don't care who knows its frozen i'd be straight up about it with anyone on this board anyways. Just wanna get it fixed before the gap between actual mileage and what is shown gets to big

i had that happen in an old car i used just to drive to work... it ended up being a fuse that only controlled the speedo... not sure why i even bothered fixing it, i only ended up driving a few hundred miles in the next six years i owned the car... its crazy
