NOS question

and how many head gaskets has he blown this year. I hope you're not running cometics.

i blew one on spray and that had nothing to do with fuel, i had very weak valve springs and i think that was the problem, the valves were not opening and shutting properly and boom it shot out a gasket.....the cylinder pressure had to go somewhere.......the last time it popped it was on motor so this is irrelevant but i think the gasket was stamped improperly

i wouldnt be too worried about it to be honest, you got to put fuel through a .070ish hole. as long as the fuel pressure is constant i think youll be find with that lil of a shot. if you had a fogger or something id say different. but specals on the porcelin does not mean its lean. you have to look down in the porceling to see that. and the timing strap on the plug to see what it needs for timing. specs can be just oil on the plug or even carbon buring up.

when you checked the plug did you shut the motor off at the end of pass and check it, or did you drive it back to the pits then check? were they brand new plugs when you did this?

I made a pass by my parents' house then pulled it in thier driveway and shut it down. They were brand new plugs. I drove around the block to get the car warmed up and then made a pass. Some of the specks were carbon i'm sure. Only the corner cylinders had some specks. The inside cylinders did not. The timing mark on the ground strap was just about even with the rim of the plug. It was maybe just a hair above the rim. I have it at 30 degrees. I figured if it was really lean it would pop and sputter or not make good power like it should. It did feel like it was making GOOD power. I know i'm taking a chance with it set up the way I have it but if it can be made to work ok I'll run it like it is until I can afford to get a dedicated system just for the nitrous. Thanks for the input, -Jake
