Hey guys sorry for the noob question but I bought a roller from florida early this year. built the car and took it to the track and was told my seat belts are expired and have been since 2008. they look like they are in great shape, do I just take them somewhere and get them checked over and retagged or am i forced to purchase new belts?

Also the cage in the car is 8.50 certified and tagged in 2008 as well. It is a mild steel cage, Am i good on the cage or does that expire also.

any help on where I can get that done is much appreciated.

Contact the manufacturer for the belts to see if they can inspect them and re-cert.

I am not sure about the cage, they do that at Milan and other places usually in spring I think, you can have it re-check just for your own knowledge...

how often does mild steal have to be inspected? I thought i heard someone say it was every 2 years and chromoly is every 5 years.

if you cant get the belts re webbed just take them off and sell them to the jeep guys or circle track guys.. they eat them up like crazy. way easier then just giving them away and taking such a huge loss.. post them up on yellow bullet and you'll find many guys who will take them

Belts' webbing deteriorate over time, the manufacturer wouldn't just inspect them and put new tags on them, they replace all the stitching too. It's about 1/4 of the price of new belts I believe. But you can send them back and have them restitched.
