so me and dkbykesdk but the 4400 tourque converter and the car started up and ran fine. SMELLED RICH AS FUCK....

so we commense to back it out of the driveway after about 5 minutes of idling and it stalls. crank crank crank and wont fire. we realize that we forgot to plug the 02 sensors in and figured it ran so rich it fouled the plugs. so i changed the plugs today and no spark still, or fuel.

only thing out of the ordinary that happened was i touched a cresent wrench from the positive termail to the negative but i wouldnt think that would cause a short in the ecu/ignition

any input?

ls1 car

we took the starter off yea.

ckp?

is that on the side of the oil pan, with the plug you need to undo to drop the starter out of the way?

the car ran and idled first start up and stalled up great just stalled after 5 mins of running and now wont get fuel or spark

i shorted the battery after it stalled.

its on a ls1 car so efi.

im done with it for today. ill look tomorrow

any input?

does it have that photo eye Dis my friend had some problems with his but is was an LT1 im not sure if the ls has it

Why don't you answer this question first before TTT'ing, he has a valid question.

I dont know what kind of car it is, or carbed, EFI?
Do you have a tach? Does the tach move when you crank it? If you don't have spark, you're not going to have fuel either I'm pretty sure of, that would be an EFI setup though. If no tach movement, you may have nuked your ECU by shorting the battery....Or pushed it past the point of no return, then when its running just have finished it off....

i answered with it is efi...

and i havent gone to check if the tach moves..

i also answered with....i shorted the battery after the car had already died, so...unsure of that possibility as well.

sorry, im going over there shortly to check

The tach moving is what I was referring to. The 24 tooth LS1 triggers a hall effect sensor that gives the PCM what it needs to know as far as where the crank is in its stroke. If the PCM can't detect where the engine is it will neither fire fuel nor spark.

the tach did not move at alll

but the crank sensor looks like to be untouched and in perfect shape.

thanks pat!

would checking the wiring for the tach help? or would trying a new ecu work?

or is the problem is the relay from the crank to the ecu? if the "gauges" fuse blew would that cause that?

i dont have an oscope nnor know how to use one, but to get to the sensor, the starter needs to be removed.

the wiring was never touched, and im just perplexed, that the car ran then stalled and then didnt start.

i hooked up a scanner and only got one code "coolant temp high input" or some bs.

if the ecu wasnt getting a signal from the crank trigger wouldnt i get a code?
