Nipping pup?

Great advice, same principle.

As an example in action, my wife's aunt moved to town with a severly poorly trained Akita that was the worst fucking dog I've ever seen, and how I didn't shoot this thing is a miracle. Anyway, everytime we came over she made a b-line for my son and nipped him. Next time we came over she came flying, he hid behind me and I hip-checked her into the wall, then bend down, grabbed her (and over her snout, thumb and middle finger in her mouth, directly behind the canines.) Twist 180 degrees so her head was upside down and believe me the body will follow, kind of like a doggie-jujitsu move. Bent over, grabbed the throat and stared her down. She looked at me like WTF? Finally looked away and I let her go. She walked off calmly, glanced at me and from that day forward never approached my son and would come up to me, flip over at my feet and and ask for tummy rubs. My aunt-in-law was amazed, said she couldn't get her to behave and I said "I see that." To this day this dog give me no shit whatsoever.

Seems it does good to be a mouth expert and a martial-artist. :D

Point is, dogs just want your acceptance and need to know where they stand--they don't really care where in line they are per se, but will try from time to time to move up the wrungs of the ladder. I think you'll agree that this one just needs a little fine tuning and she'll be a gem.
Good luck.

Agreed, These are all things that i have been doing. It may bee too soon to see the results. I will keep going with what I have been doing. Just the agression was the only thing that had me worried.

Those are good methods as well. AKC is American kennel certified. Meaning not a mutt for the most part. Cause ive never had or seen a golden be that way. But those are good ways. Just got to do it when then act up so they know what exactly they are doing will not be tolerated. I know my golden now loves her toys. She doesn’t and hasn’t chewed but loves to carry them. Try those ropes or squeakers. She loves toys that make noise. And our old golden didn’t chew either but never played with toys. Take her swimming to let her get exhausted. They love water. Fetch. And grab ball or whatnot with your hand close to see if she will nip you and discipline her if she does to teach her that way as well. But in my cases goldens will be very protective of owners and kids. When my pup was young she would let a kid do anything to her. Not even bark. So im not sure why yours has this issue. I know everyone’s diff but in my cases I haven’t seen this. But good luck. They are great dogs.

One of the best things I found to use is a empty can (pop, beer) with pennies in it when she starts toss it at her and yell her name and no. keep it around because it will work for everything. You won't half to hit here next time with the can just shake it and yell ne. Been doing this for years with all the dogs I have had and it works great.

I do have papers saying she is pure bread.. So yea, she is AKC.

I also have heard of the can trick... Thanks. I will try all of these.

The can works wonders when you can't reach the dog. After training them with it, all I had to say is "the can" and they stop whatever they were doing and go laid down. I used the methods Dr. Teeth suggested for biting.

almost funny thinking about how i trained my dog...flipping them over and staring at them....I gotta say though my lab is one of the best dogs I have ever had...minus the anal gland seep once a year...ugh.

Dr. Teeth ? Good advice...

Haha. Not my work, but decent nonetheless. Too white for me, looks like he painted them with "White-Out." Definitely fabbed teeth, but I digress. I do like Caesar's work though. I've seen him rehab some dogs I would have shot after 5 minutes.

here is my new pup

She has been in our house for almost 3 weeks. Without looking at the papers I cant tell you the names. Some breader...?

Like i said before. She is a Really good dog. She listens very well. I might of been a little harder on her then i should have and that is were the aggression came from. But i will continue to do what i have been doing, just going about it differently.

when i was a kid my dad got a Boxer. One day he kinda knibbled like that on my buddy's finger. He yelled and me saying your dog just bit me. lol I said so bite him back. Well, my buddy bit down on his ear. LOLLOL that dog never bit anything again

This usually works for me, note I train only Shepherds. When the dog is nipping reach down and push the dogs lip into its own canine teeth. When you do this the dog will yelp because it will hurt but it will not permanently scar the dog. It will only take about three times and the dog should catch on. It is important to do this when the dog is in the act of biting. Sometimes I will grab the entire snout and squeeze both sides at once. Does the dog jump a lot too?

one thing i did when my pups would bite or nip . say out loud ouch ouch ouch ( in a wimpy voice ) this teaches the dog empathy they are smart and know " hey I dont want to hurt my owner . also correcting them and staying repetitive. with the same word if they are over excited . I also would flip em over and bite their neck to show them I am the Alpha male . of the pack

i have owned a few goldens and never heard of a situation like this. i would try to crate her if she bites after a swat to the noise with newspaper as a timeout type method. is it an akc? why did you just get her at 17 weeks old? who had her prior? or if she bites and growls, mussel her and tell her no and then crate her. ive never had or seen a golden that growels back and bites. only biting if teething. but nothing hard unless ruffhousing with them.

x2..........i also have had goldens
