You have to have proof the vehicle was maintained according to the factory recommended maintenance schedule and if you can't you are fucked, plain and simple.
You have to be able to prove it was due to a manufacturing defect and not due to owner neglect or lack of maintenance, end of story.
While I agree with you, the point I was making is that you can change your own oil and not have them void it. Mazda has been pulling this stunt on the MS3/MS6 owners since engines and turbos have been letting go. After a lengthy talk with the SM, keeping a spreadsheet yourself is the minimum, and requesting a UOA be done on the oil (if possible) can save you from being raked over the coals for a new engine.
