Newbie-- supra powered 77 celica (56K DIE)

Very bad ass little ride you have there. Welcome to the site. We don't hate imports here, we hate the cocky attitudes that tend to come with the 17 year old, internet, tough guys that normally come with them.

haha, well thank you.

I dont have that attitude thankfully, and I dont think my car can beat everything on the road like many of the ppl you speak of haha. I have the feeling that 95% of you guys would kill my car on the street/track.

I am a pretty honest stand-up guy, well IMHO at least, feel free to form your own :_slide_:

ya, i have a silver 99 firebird, i drove it up to work a lot last year, havnt taken it up there this year, ive been working on it.

Exactly.

Nice job on the swap. I'm a big fan of sticking a new powertrain in an old car. (See sig.) ;)

Nice. I didnt know there were this many livingston county guys here. The number seems to be growing by the day.

Nice car.

I am Chris from Brighton and I just figured I would make a little intro for myself.
Some of you guys may hate my car because its an import, but its my pride and joy so you have to deal with my intro. I am a huge Mopar fan and a fan of old skool imports. I am normally a lurker but I tend to put my .02 in once in a while.

Anyways.... on to my Toyota

It is a 1977 Toyota Celica GT that is from Cali. not too much rust to speak of, I picked up a lil over a year ago with the intentions of using it as a DD. Little did I know that this would be by far the slowest car I had ever driven! I daily drove it all last year (not the winter tho) and it was horribly underpowered. I still decided to keep the car becasue of uniqueness and rarity here in MI, most people have no idea what the damn thing is.

When I uncovered the car after winter this year I knew I had to do something about the power issue....
I dont know how I ended where i am at now, but about a week after I got some crazy ideas in my head I had a 1992 Turbo Supra engine, trans, wiring harness, and ecu delivered to my door.

I started the project May 1st 2008 and had her back out on the road in just one day less than 3 months!

I am MORE than happy about the results of my swap, I was expecting low 14sec 1/4's and 20 mpg....
After finishing the swap I ended up with 31mpg and 12.9@110mph on 195/70/r14 street tires! ( 2.2ish 60' :( )

It has:
-7M-GTE engine and R154 5 speed out of a 1992 Toyota supra
- Axle out of a 1968 440 Dodge Dart (8.75") adapted to 4 link suspension.
-Exterior is all stock, just going for the sleeper look, intercooler is hidden, and running stock size tires, and it even still has a trailer hitch!! :rockwoot:

So what do you guys think of my lil project?

Sleepers rule! :hail: :kneel:

I'd leave the crappy stock paint, narrow the rear end 4-5".. mini tub it and widen a stock set of wheels to accept a 265 or 275 drag radial.
