I am Chris from Brighton and I just figured I would make a little intro for myself.
Some of you guys may hate my car because its an import, but its my pride and joy so you have to deal with my intro. I am a huge Mopar fan and a fan of old skool imports. I am normally a lurker but I tend to put my .02 in once in a while.

Anyways.... on to my Toyota

It is a 1977 Toyota Celica GT that is from Cali. not too much rust to speak of, I picked up a lil over a year ago with the intentions of using it as a DD. Little did I know that this would be by far the slowest car I had ever driven! I daily drove it all last year (not the winter tho) and it was horribly underpowered. I still decided to keep the car becasue of uniqueness and rarity here in MI, most people have no idea what the damn thing is.

When I uncovered the car after winter this year I knew I had to do something about the power issue....
I dont know how I ended where i am at now, but about a week after I got some crazy ideas in my head I had a 1992 Turbo Supra engine, trans, wiring harness, and ecu delivered to my door.

I started the project May 1st 2008 and had her back out on the road in just one day less than 3 months!

I am MORE than happy about the results of my swap, I was expecting low 14sec 1/4's and 20 mpg....
After finishing the swap I ended up with 31mpg and 12.9@110mph on 195/70/r14 street tires! ( 2.2ish 60' :( )

It has:
-7M-GTE engine and R154 5 speed out of a 1992 Toyota supra
- Axle out of a 1968 440 Dodge Dart (8.75") adapted to 4 link suspension.
-Exterior is all stock, just going for the sleeper look, intercooler is hidden, and running stock size tires, and it even still has a trailer hitch!! :rockwoot:

So what do you guys think of my lil project?

ya i saw this car yesterday on xceedspeed during the votm fiasco lol. i would have voted for it if not for the aspire being on there. you'll find that everyone here is a good group of people, and wont hate on your car just because its an import. everyone around here is pretty mature for the most part. and welcome

i work with your dad, i remember when he brought your car to work, everybody was outside looking at it on break.

thats a cool ass swap you did

I voted for your car on Xceed. That's some fine aged rice with a splash of new.

BTW what year is the Super Bee? My pops had a 68

Haha, yeah I dont know why ppl over there made such a big deal out of it. I dont really care about the poll, I think the aspire should have won personally, instead it was just taken out of the poll, oh well.

I have been a member of xceed for a few months and I have met some cool people through there and had lots of fun at the meets, also some typical.... ya know. I try not to post on there too much except for in my own build thread, but the meets are always fun, except for the occasional drama which I hate.

Cool project; very unique! I live in Brighton as well and saw this car sitting over at the Green Oak shopping center. I saw the intercooler in front and big exhaust and knew something was up!

Thanks, my dad is still deathly afraid that I will kill myself in this thing, he is always calling when I am out to make sure I am alright haha
My goal with this car was to make it faster then his cars.... goal accomplished haha

I work at AW-TC in ann arbor if he didnt tell ya.

Thanks. The superbee is a 69, factor hemi 4 speed car too! love it. if ya want to see any more pics let me know

that cool, your dads car is gorgeous, i would be scared to drive it if i was him, you guys did a great job with your car, i dont get to really talk to your dad cause he works across the street, but he was came up to me when he found out what my car ran, and i drove it to work the next day, he seemed suprised by it.

you plan on modding the motor and cranking up the boost?

Not everybody hates imports. I have an Evo. As long as it's tastefully done nobody really cares. Same goes for domestics for all that matter.

Great looking car. Very unique too!

I'll have to ask him abotu your car when he gets back from vacation, I think he is up north.

So far I just have arp headstuds, intercooler and 2.5" pipes, shitty air filter, MBC, and 3" exhaust. factory boost is 6.8psi and I just have it set to about 9psi.

Its probably a lil over 300whp, but in such a light car (2600lbs) its not to bad.

Of course it is still not fast enough, but I should probably take cars of a few other issues first.

The chassis is starting to twist from the extra power, the doors dont open like they used to. I am thinking about putting in a roll bar or maybe a 6pt cage to be safe.
The Brakes SUCK, imagine the worst heat spotted flywheel you have ever seen... x100, and that is what my front brakes look like :( pizza cutter non vented rotors FTL. Its scary.
I have done too many unsafe things in this car, I can bounce it off the rev limter in 5th gear about 160mph, but the tires are rated for about 80mph, and are not balanced so well :faint: me = death wish
Need wider tires, they are fwd offset rims on the back because the dart axle is 3" wider, its tough to find a wide fwd offset wheel, even though I am still in the 12's.... 2.2-2.4 60' times are just not going to cut it. On the street I cant hook up much til 3rd unless you just roll into it slowly.
The paint is still all the 31 year old factory crap, its in ok shape for its age, but could still use some major help, going to get rid of that side moulding too, either going to paint it the same color or go with white.

Future engine mods after I get this stuff taken care of....

Metal head gasket.
Upgrade factory turbo to 57 or 60 trim, or just go all out.
forged internals if my wallet can take the damage.. wish
lexus v8 air flow meter and 550cc injectors, or just go with a MAFT setup and even bigger injectors.
