New wheels for the beater!

Project "4 cylinder fury" got some new shoes! I want a larger tire for the back to help the cruise RPM's, but I had a pair of 225/60's I threw on it for now. Maybe 235 or 245/60's would be the ticket? I'm actually hoping the skinny, lightweight wheels and tires help the mileage LOL! Last tank it got around 27 mpg, how much better can I get it? No speed here, it's all about the fuel economy :icon_bigg

my old 4 banger 5 speed with the stock size 14's on it would get 32MPG at 75 with the cruise on, and 30+ same speed towing a light jetski...25 around town. Looks good.

Sweet, I was hoping to see 30+ on a highway trip. My work commute consists of lots of 55 mph back roads, but several stop and go's along the way so it never really sees a steady cruise RPM and I'm always shifting gears and accelerating. Thanks for the info!

That's cool! Although people are gonna constantly be trying to race you! Turbo time.

Thanks, I actually have thought of the turbo swap. There is an older man a few blocks away with an '87 turbo coupe T-bird that moves maybe once a month, and I thought of making him an offer. Bah, just another project I don't need... :icon_surp

LS1`s in the f-bodies get 30-32 mpg and go 13`s in the 1/4 ......u ford guys need to see the lite .....haha.. :~}

I like it, Put a 4 inch coel hood and on it and sell it to me CHEEP. I have a rusted body you could have after, LOL. Nice car I like it as a DD.

That is a clean DD. Get the car lighter if you want better mpg. The more weight you can take out of it the better really. plus it will get it that much closer to a racecar of some sort =p

as weird as this sounds if i fill my tank at a shell station i get 360 miles to the tank... if i fill up at speedway, meijer, bp, or any other no name station i only get around 300 miles to the tank... no driving changes and i take the same route to and from work everyday and if i go anywhere else its normally close to home... shell is normally a few cents more than the surrounding stations but its well worth the difference in mileage

Good advice. Joe is new to this so I am sure it will help him.

I kid I kid.

LOL! Thanks guys.

I'm being harassed by a coworker to sell it now that it has some bling. I dunno, I think I'll have to roll it for awhile first. But then, cash is king...

93 or 87 octane?

Either. but mine only got 29 on the highway because it was an automatic. My 'vette however is also an automatic and it got about 31 on the hwy when it was stock. On a good day / track both the F-body and the 'vette ran in the 13.20s in the quarter bone stock.

That is one really nice looking stang by the way. It'll take restraint to keep it as an MPG car. You can do it!

Thanks, and those are some impressive numbers for stock LS1's. Gotta' love technology! If anything I own gets one of those bullets, it would be my old '77 T/A. Maybe someday, if I own it long enough. ;)

The white car is in no immediate danger of an engine swap, it does just what I need for a very small investment. The blue coupe on the other hand... :spend:
