New scam?

Is this a new scam or have I just not seen it before?

I found a craigslist ad for a car and the selling price was about 1/3 of the market value of the car. I assumed it was a typo, but emailed the seller our of curiosity. Here is what I got back. Notice that the ad was on craigslist and the email mentions ebay. Even the scammers are getting lazy and not double checking their crap. LOL

Hi,

Thank you for being interested in buying my 2008 Buick Enclave with 10,500 miles, Automatic Transmission, VIN: 5GAEV237X8J227926. It is in EXCELLENT condition; the body and paint are great, no scratches and no dents; the interior is clean; it has never been involved in an accident; the title is clear.
My final price on it is US 11,500 $.
I just got divorced and I decided to move closer to my parents. Right now I'm located in Canada and the car is here with me. The car was awarded to me in our divorce. Being a single mother and not having a driver's license I decided to sell the car. As I'm unable to travel in the near future and I don't have anyone to help me with the sale I decided to make this transaction through a eBay. I believe this protects both buyer and seller and it's the right way to do this.
So don't get me wrong and don't take it personally but I would prefer to secure the deal through a 3rd party. Also because the car will be shipped from Canada to US I prefer to work with a third party in order to keep the both of us safe in this deal. I will be assured you will buy the car and you will be assured that you will receive it! Basically the money will be sent to them and they will keep the money until you will receive the car and only after you will inspect and drive the car they will forward the money to me.
If you have other questions feel free to email.

Regards, Susan

Looks like this car is in California. Thanks B.House! ;-)

The info on the autocheck matches except for the mileage. It says last reported is 11,XXX in February of 2010.

I don't get how this is supposed to work. Why would these scammers give you a VIN number with some of the information matching up with what they are telling you in the email?

Here is another one...

So I went along with the game this person was playing and it turns out that for some strange reason, Susan who is selling her car in Canada, wants me to send the money here:

Account Holder: Stacey L Ryan
Account Number: 2094861883
Account Holder Address: 1808 W 680 N, Pleasant Grove, UT 84062, United States

Looking for some ideas on how to send a big F-YOU to Stacey!

Maybe you can contact the local police and possibly be directed to who to contact in the FBI. I'm sure they could send stacy a nice F-U for ya. It will hopefully include a nice set of bracelets:banana:

I might just do that. No matter the outcome, explaining this whole thing to some small town Utah police dept. should be fun ;-)
