Please tell me you did research on the breed? They are not at all like the dog on the beverly hillbillies, you MUST have a fenced yard, My last hound (mississippi) would climb a chain link fence like nothing, Their nose is their eyes they will follow a scent right into traffic, they are a extremely high maintance dog, you need to inspect/clean the ears weekly, they are very prone to Hip displaysia, also you have to watch their food and ears when they are eating, (they will bite their ears) elevating the food bowl helps alot. Not trying to scare you off just warning ya Oh yea dried spit is like cement on the celing, once you hear one sing for ya its all worth while

x2 i have done some research on the breed as well. i had planned on buying one and now im thinking against it.

they are also very prone to bloating, and it s VERRRYY painful to them and can be fatal. in fact if i remember correctly, more times than not, if you dont catch it in time the dog will fade very fast.

they are amazing dogs, their sence of smell is just unreal, and the sound is unreal to hear in person. which is one of the reasons i wanted one. but they are allooootttt of work, and they dont live that long.

beautiful dog though! congrats.

oh, and look forward to this!!! hahaha
