New member from Xceed saying hello

and when is the last time you heard the 98 - 04 Mustang referred to as New Edge? Everyone calls it the SN95 because it's 99.99999% SN95 designed.

how the hell is designed from the sn95? if i remember correctly the sn95 was based off a modified fox chassis. can any of you mustang guys chime in?

Technically, 94-04 is classified as sn95. The 94-98 are commonly referred to as sn95s while the 99-04 are referred to as "new edge". Also, as far as the sn95 being based off of a modified fox chassis, ford used the same chassis 79-04 ;)

I'm not sure where new people usually post these types of threads, so please feel free to move it if it's in the wrong section.

For some of you who are also on Xceedspeed you may already know me, but my name is Dennis and I drive a '98 Ford Escort ZX2. I don't really have huge plans for mine, unlike Eric (rockthemullet), although I may add some boost to it in the future. Right now it's serving daily driver duties with the occasional autocross. It has a CAI, catless header, 2.25" exhaust, MSD ignition coil & wires, SCT tune, Tokico struts and Progress springs.

Once I save up enough money I've been thinking of picking up a Mustang, preferably a SN95 or newer, not a fox-body.

Welcome! Escorts rule. When I graduate and get a real job, my 96 LX is getting a rotiserie restoration, then a turbo.

I thought that the 99-04 was known as the S197 also, I could be wrong.

BTW, welcome to the site.

I'm sure Al will argue with you about it, but I agree. I've never heard anyone actually call the 98 - 04 The New Edge.

SN95 = 94-98. http://www.mustangforums.com/sn95-mustang/

99-04 = New Edge http://www.mustangforums.com/new-edge-mustang/
Introduction to the New Edge Mustang produced from 1999-2004
The 1999 Mustang marked the official 35th anniversary of the Ford Mustang, and it also marked the beginning of new era with yet another redesign. While the prior generation, the SN95, successfully completed the task of getting the Mustang back atop the pony car market, the performance car market was swelling up around the Mustang, with entries from not only domestic automakers, but now from Japanese entries. So, when the 1999 Mustang debuted, called the "New Edge" it put an emphasis on improving styling as well as performance, and the sharp new lines and increases horsepower did just that. While the New Edge was not a huge redesign in comparison to that which was seen when moving from the Mustang II to the Fox Body or the change seen in the Fox Body to the SN95, but the change was significant enough to be considered a full redesign.
Anyone can copy and paste shit. 99-04 Mustangs should NEVER be considered SN95s. Are a bunch of parts interchangeable? Sure...many Fox parts fit on an SN95 and also a New Edge...does that make a 96 GT a Fox?!?!?!

S197 = 2005+

Welcome. You'll like the Mature crowd here. I rarely post on Xceed just because you cant even say hi and state what kind of car you have without someone flaming or cutting you down.
