new here - my first mustang gts

nice lookin car. i think the fr 500s would look great on your car. some factory tails and some eibachs with the fr500s car will look sick.

thanks guys. i still have yet to get the stock taillights and headlights. my girls mom put the clears on a couple years ago and has them sitting in her storage. however ill be getting them soon enough. soon as i do, they will be swapped back on.

Good man! Welcome.

Lose the tails... And the spoiler.... It's a GTS for a reason :D

Congratz on the purchase, welcome to the site.

Good lookin car, like everyone else has said, Id head to the moms garage today and swap out those lights. Just leave the altezzas right there on her shelf! You also should never go back to xceed again.

Ive got a "like new" set iof 4.10 gears for that bad boy if you are interested. it will really wake that thing up

Nice car, looks to be in real nice shape.

I had a 94 GT that had the following mods, and ran high 13's and was stone reliable, and took a beating.

3.73 gears
Offroad h-pipe and weld-in flowmasters
Bumped timing to 13*
Cheapo ebay CAI
Steeda lowering springs and adj Tokico shocks (all 4 corners)
Steeda triax shifter

My suggestion would be to first start with cheap & easy mods. Bumping the timing (u will have to run premium), new plugs, cap/rotor, and CAI. This will net you ~ 15-20hp and help throttle response. Next do gears (i reccomend 3.73's) and full exhaust. Lowering springs/struts and some nice 17 or 18" wheels will make it look alot better too.

The mods you will use everytime you drive the car and notice the most is gears and shifter, so I would do thgse before any other "engine mods" (like intake manifold, TB, etc).

Cool car.

i didn't think gts's came with fog lights.. or was that an option??
I'm pretty sure someone installed those either at time of delivery or after. I am 98% certain, fog lights and wings were not an option. I'm gonna have to do some research :mmm:

"Obvious external characteristics of a GTS are the absence of a rear decklid spoiler, lack of fog lamps in the front airdam and 16"x7" 5 spoke SN-95 pony rims"

Production Numbers
Total: 6,370
w/T5: 4,848
w/AODE: 1,522

By Color
Canary Yellow: 344
Vibrant Red: 25
Rio Red: 777
Laser Red: 1,123
Sapphire Blue: 96
Bright Blue: 197
Deep Forest Green: 1,002
Teal: 217
Opal Frost: 312
Black: 1,430
Crystal White: 847

So someone added those features. Sometimes dealers would do that to "spice up" the cars. Pretty much defeating the purpose, but it was still cheaper than GT because of the interior.

thanks everyone for the good reply's, and good advise. im always up for some good advise since this is a new learning experiance for me.

Golden - very nice wheels and them are actually the wheels i had always liked the best if i were to ever have a mustang. however im not really the one for chrome. chrome reminds me of the cheap crap ppl will put around there fenders and chrome grills that come on alot of cheap cars.. or more so 20" rims or bigger that ppl love puting on there caddies. just not my style.

that was my guess also, far as the fogs and spoiler. however i did find somewhere that it stated all options for GT's were also available for the GTS. also, there were 3 different packages for the gts that you could get that did include different things in each package... power windows... or whatever you want. you could also customize those packages to your liking. it has also been stated on one page (im guessing the page you got your info from) that the GTS came standard with a 4-way power drivers seat. the author claims some have claimed this not to be true but he has had no solid proof of this. he also claims if this were so, ford would have had to redesign the seat rails or take the seats and rails or something out of another car, which he claims is also very unlikely. well, my car has stadard mustang seats and they are not powered. so that fact is false also. being that my girls mom has owned this car since 96, its unlikely to me that within its 1 year life with someone we do not personally know put on the cobra spoiler and the fod lights. its possable, but im leaning hard towards it was ordered like that from the factory. i know my gils mom never put them options on.

I've seen plenty of dudes modify first year cars! :secret: I seriously doubt it came from the factory with the Cobra spoiler. And yes all Mustangs had the harness for power seats on the floor even if it had the cheap (V6 & GTS) seats installed.
The dead give-away that you have a GTS is the crank windows. No other V8 Mustang could be had that way EXCEPT a Cobra R. Now I wish I had one of those!

put a 4.10 or a 4.30 gear in it, rebuild and stack the posi, nice 125 wet shot and it should hall some ass! nice car and welcome to motownmustangs!
