New exhaust

I got rid of the 3 inch exhaust (H-pipe,1 chambers) for a 2.5 inch exhaust (X-pipe,2 chamber super 44's). I don't think a lil' 8.5:1 compression 331 really needs a 3 inch exhaust. Its much more quiet at idle but it still sounds ok at higher rpms.

Any thoughts on exhaust diameter vs. compression?
(On my car the 3 inch didn't really help my et at all but the power band changed.)

That is my old set up, and it sounds completely different. Mine was no where near that loud.

no, not at all IMO. Just pure baddass :coolio: makes me wanna put pushrod motor in my car...

Just a stock 302, nothing about yours sound remotely similar. The idle note should be some what close to what mine sounded like. Most set ups I have heard sound close at idle.

That makes a big difference. Mines dumped. Plus, a stock motor compared to a built motor is a big difference as well.
