New carry piece

I think it is because carrying a concealed weapon covers more than just pistols.

Yup - people started carrying smalled shotguns, etc.....

I got pulled over one time by this little squirly cop in Huntington Woods and I told him I had a CPL and a gun was in the glove box. He looks at me in bewilderment, and I say again.... "a CPL - I have one".

So after saying CPL for 3 times I say "how bout a CCW - I have a ccw" and he goes... "THATS BETTER!!"

haha good stuff

:thinkerg:

That's sad that the cop doesn't even know the difference...

and yes, CCW covers any type of weapon that isn't in plain view. Just having a knife in the car is considered concealed.

When I first applied for my cpl, the people working at the sheriffs office in westland kept calling it a ccw.

The Courts & Police use to call it a CCW but it has changed in the last few years. CPL for pistols and CCW for any other concealed weapons.

When they come out with a .45 XDM I will buy one. But for the price difference I'll stick to the XD.

Quick question. You guys you have CCW's and can carry a hand gun....

What do you guys do? Just buy a holster and wear it under clothing? So obviously noone knows you have it?

Also...what about in your car? I'm sure you guys take them with you when you cruise. It still has to be "on you" right? You can't just stick it under the seat right??

sorry, I'm just a noob.

Well holsters are a dime a dozen. You have to research to find a holster thats gonna fit the comfort of you carrying. They can get pretty pricey as well. I just spent $90 on a holster for this gun.

Purchasing a pistol is rather straight forward. For those of us with a ccw..You can walk into a gun store..see what you like..and purchase it on the spot. You fill out some paper work and are give 3 copies of a Pistol sales receipt. Pink copy you carry with you for 30 days(i always keep mine on me as long as im carrying said gun) Then the white/yellow copy is taken to your local PD where they file one, and send the other to the state cops.

Basically after that your legal to carry it.

If you do NOT have a ccw..you are required to pick up a purchase permit from you local PD. They give you a quick test, and i think do a quick background check(not sure about that anymore) If everything looks good..they give you the permit. To which you take to the store or whomever your purchasing the gun from. Fill it out Seller copy, purchaser copy, copy to the local pd, copy to the state pd, within 10 days. YOU ARE NOT LEGAL TO CARRY!

Whenever i have it with me..i carry it ON me..i dont trust leaving it in the car. Someone steals your car..they steal your gun....could equal some big time trouble! I dont think it has to be ON you persay. But if you get pulled over..you are required by law to state that you have a license to carry and if the weapon is on you, or where its at in the vehicle. Failing to do this..again..results in some HUGE fines.
