New becomes better-than-new: an AutoLavish documentary of a GTI

Well that's cool. It's funny when you meet somebody that knows more than the avg person about detailing. Almost like a secret society . I still consider myself an avg. shade tree detailer, but I have done a few paint corrections. I wish there were detailing workshops in the area (kind of like Meguiar's Open Garage in CA). I'd really like to attempt wet sanding.
I definitely do work hard to keep my car looking it's best, but I have some paint correction to do on it. A woman hit me head on in a parking structure, so the car had to make a visit to a body shop. A good friend of mine did all of the body and paint work, but their porter put some mad swirls into the paint in certain areas.

Very much so - not a lot of people get this into it. Wet-sanding is risky but rewarding. We have this article coming up soon enough:

G/L polishing out that bumper though!

I usually don't let anyone detail my car but myself, but I would make an exception for you guys!
Great Work!

Thanks Darrin :D

Amazing work as usual! Might have to get some of that 12% film for my mustang's fog lights.

It'll likely look awesome!

One thing I have to say... This gave me an idea to cut down on rattles -- I'm going to find or make a rubber bushing/washer to pull the license plate away from the paint on my car... Should help some :D

I was looking at the rubber bushing idea for the lower two holes on my license plate. Standing it off a bit is never a bad idea for the paint.

Marc, where'd you get that film for the fogs?

You guys rock! That's all there is to it. Your threads motivated me to wet sand and wheel my car again, I had some issues with the bodywork moving and the clear shrinking up. I'm sure it's something I did when I was doing the body. I just started the other day, hope to be done by the weekend. Keep up the outstanding work! I love your attitude about taking the cars to the "perfection level". Not many people see things that way. Thanks for sharing!

The owner supplied it. Let me know if you need me to find out where he got it from (though I suspect a place the specializes in V-dubs)

Awesome - always good to stop those annoying little things from getting to you.

:D Rock-on! Good to hear we're helping give some fellow car enthusiasts some motivation. Not people see things and are willing to work in the way we do. It's very time consuming to go for a perfect look without any filler/silcone/etc: what you see is what you get.

Wow! I wouldn't want to drive my car after a treatment like this making it look that nice! haha

The nice thing is that if cared for correctly; it'll look just like this after each proper two-bucket+Grit-Guard wash.

Thanks for taking a look!
