New Anti-NASCAR thread.....

Ok, I admit I watch the road course ones and laugh.
3300 pund sleds that are not setup for roadcourses trying there best to go around the course...

I also do not watch wrestling.
Nascar is worthless..its an American pastime..

I mean come on they still have the HUGe steering wheels, 4 spd transmissions with Huge old school shifters...its Archaic

Sorry but I think Nascar is one of the most boring things in this world to watch on t.v. Now in person it's a whole different story.

And yes Justin......Nascar sucks....

I love it when people say nascar is full of rednecks.

Have any of you been to the dragstrip??

Came across this...

how can you say Nascar helps develop automobiles when they still use carbs, solid rear axles, and pushrod motors?

snip......The Fusion was designed in part with the Car of Tomorrow in mind, including the nose, tail and rear window. Those specifications also took into account the aerodynamic limitations.......snip

The Fusion marks the first time since 1968 that Ford unveiled the same model on the track as the street version for sale on lots near you. Not coincidentally, one of the Fusion's biggest competitors in the showroom is the Toyota Camry, set to make its NASCAR debut in 2007.

From Press Release said:
Ford took a different approach with the development of this race car than it had done with previous models in the past. This time, Ford engineers, led by Ford NASCAR field manager Ben Leslie and Ford aerodynamicist Bernie Marcus, did the early development with a scale model testing program that in previous new model efforts had been done by race teams.

"Early on in the process we engaged our General Motors design staff with some of the design characteristics that they put into our production car, and worked very closely with NASCAR to incorporate those in the latitude we were allowed to try and give the car as much production flavor as feasible," Chew said. "We're real happy with the results."

Rob Jenkinson said:
The opportunity to work with RCR engineers will benefit both parties extremely," said Rob Jenkinson, who manages the SKF Racing Unit in the Automotive division.

"We will use resources from each SKF division to improve the performance of the Richard Childress Racing. Together, RCR and SKF will work toward total mechanical efficiency to improve machines on the racetrack and on today's highways around the world."

Shall I go on?

so the front wheel drive 4-6 cylinder was based on a rwd 8 cylinder car. check.

and i'm sure they have the same wheelbase and air intakes for cooling.

you can fire off quotes all day that make George W. Bush look smart, doesn't mean it's true.
