New 5.0 on bumper

DAMN! Hitting the brakes was the wrong move. Wonder how much that car weighed?
 
sweet car but what a noob! the car was already on it's way back to earth and he pumps the brakes...whoops!
 
Well he grabbed the brakes cuz that bitch was on a path for the wall. It didnt leave straight at all. Went up in the air and right towards the wall...... Grab the breaks and break the front end vs. dont grab the brakes and possibly put the car over the wall if he stayed in it.
 
This video was shot at the NMRA World Finals in Bowling Green, KY - October 2nd, 2010 during Round #3 of Qualifying.

We expected the car to launch hard, but not hard enough to go on the bumper and get all four wheels off the ground!

There was Minimal damage done to the car.. Driver's Side Front Strut Snapped, Drivers Side A-Arm is bent, the Factory Motor Mount Supports snapped in half, and the two front wheels are bent.

The Oil Pan and Headers got a little scraped up and the bottom Valance on the rear bumper has some road rash....

Prior to this incident, the car ran a 9.10 @ 151MPH!

I couldn't agree more. i'd much rather break a few suspension pieces by grabbig the brakes then risk going over that barrier and injuring/killing all those spectators. in my eyes grabbing the brakes was the only thing he could of done.

He grabbed the brakes AFTER the car was already on the way down just making it come down harder. He lifted and the car came down right away there was no need to grab the brakes it didnt make it get away from the wall any faster. In my mind its the wrong thing to do, all you do is slam the car down an risk breaking tie rod(s), wheels, spindles and other parts that make the car "steerable" break one of those then your just along for the ride.

He just felt his nutz in his chin when he got scared and panic'd, when people panic the normal reaction is to hit the brakes cuz that'll fix everything...lol
