You aren't going for a degree in English are you?

Congrats on going back, it is much better the second time around...at least from an educational standpoint.

If you chose to go for personal interest that is GREAT! With how much I have invested in school and what I missed out on (traveling, starting something new in life, family) I don't think I'll ever WANT to go to school just to go. From what I've annotated, college is all about YOUR dollar. If I received a gold bullion or a nice chunk of silver or even just $50K after graduation from my university to "kick start" my life, I may be not so dark on the subject. To me, college is like an abortion but only you (being the fetus) pays to be someplace and retains debt after being thrown in the dumpster.

It's expensive, and I know people just cause it's the "norm" in their family. Yet the field they decided to go into has hardly any jobs available. That seems like a waste of money. If you can afford it, then yeah, it's worth the risk that you might be flipping burgers after obtaining your degree. I chose a degree that interested me, but also one that there are plenty of jobs in...

i like it too. looking forward to my 2nd semester at MSU next month. it can be hard to get back into the swing of things, and find your little niche (especially with a really huge campus), but you just have to focus on finishing and what it'll mean.

Oh trust me i am doing this for the right reasons. I am going for culinary arts, cooking is something that i have loved to do for a very long time. I was working a ead end job and i wasn't going anywhere in life and i just had enough of what i was doing. This is a career move no just to do it because it is the "new thing to do"

So will you be going to Schoolcraft? They have the best culinary arts program around. I will be starting my last semester at schoolcraft next month then off to EMU in the winter.

I should of completed this as soon as I got my child development degree, but I guess now is better then never. The biggest adjustment I have noticed is finding the time to study and do assignments. With life and a 4 year old it can be very hard at times but I have managed to do it with a 3.93 GPA. Just keep your eye on the goal

Congrats, Im trying to finish up my Bachelor's and recently ive been looking at graduate schools. Never thought Id want more school lol.

My cousin went to Michigan and got a degree then decided he wanted to go into culinary arts, he went to a school in Southern California after Michigan (cant remember name). Anyways he was a chief on the set of Grays Anotomy for a couple years now he is doing health/food plans for people with eating disorders for a big hospital.

Congrats! I did it with two little kids, working 40 hrs/wk. It starts off slow, but you will be finished before you know it. Hang with it. It's something nobody can ever take from you. Best decision I ever made as well.

One tip from personal experience is never to take a Saturday morning class. That was a mistake I made in my first semester of college. Needless to say I had to the drop the class after a couple weeks.

Huge congrats. Finding something you love to do is what life is all about IMO, the rest just falls into place (for the most part ;) )

I'm in the same boat. Currently working at an intern and I love it, and I only have 2 years left with low credit loads before I have my bachelors. So tempted to just stop after that, but I want to have that extra edge with a Masters, probably also in engineering. If you look around, you might be able to find funding. Not sure what your major is, but make sure you look into that.

You know what they say about Purdue engineers... Quantity over Quality. Haha, just kidding man, it's a good school. And that's an awesome deal, not sure if I could handle that much schooling though, haha.

My roommate is currently working the same intern as me, but in the supply chain department.
