Nelson's Ledges Roadcourse opinions

Working on a project for my business class in college.

What is everyone's opinion of Nelson's Ledges in Ohio. I know some of you have done events there for chumpcar and SCCA/NASA events. What did you think as a spectator and/or driver. What did you like or not like about the grounds, the track, the people, the facility, pricing or whatever. How does it compare to other track's you've run? What needs improving? What would you change up to make it better, safer, or etc. What would you do to get more beginners into racing and develop a good customer base.

Thanks

Sounds like you want someone to WRITE the paper for you.
Why not pick something you actually have some knowledge about?

Having said that, try talking to l98terror. He has spent time there, and all the other tracks and could probably give you all your data to write your paper.

no, i dont need/want anyone to write a paper. i've been to gingerman, nelsons, gratten and waterford hills before. most of my experience is at gingerman tho. and the current paper is to look at improving a current business. nelsons is the closest one in need of improvement. i remember lots of people complaining about the surface and tirewall. but having a hard time finding more opinions online. I've been around on the HPDE side of things and not the competition circuit side. so opinions between the run groups i'm sure are different. the people i've run with have been everything from porsches, bmw, vipers, and other high end stuff, to normal DD taurus' and even slower.

one of my thoughts were to do helmet rentals that are up to spec. that way someone doesnt have to spend $250 on a quality helmet if they are just coming out to try it out once. improving track conditions, facilities, and having a better paddock that doesnt become pure mud on a wet day.

Okay, good start.
You would be better off asking advise like, why doesn't your mustang run this summer then asking for road racing info here though.

True. I know the xceed site has a bit more active discussions on road course/autox: http://www.xceedspeed.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=24

My 2 cents, Nelson Ledges needs repaving, especially turns 2-6. It also wouldn't hurt to re-do the bridge across the pits/straight. If you've ever been on it, you feel like you're taking your life in your own hands. And paving more of the paddock with better grading/drainage would be great...or at least a little more gravel, instead of dirt.

That track fucking blows. By that I mean the track. The people who run it are great. Very nice, never had an issue. Delicious concession stands.

The track surface is complete shit. It needs a repave something aweful. The curbing is terrible. The location is terrible. On the location, I don't mean that it is in the middle of nowhere not close enough to things. That is not a problem for a track, really. But it is in a big, wet, foggy valley. You can go there in the middle of a drought and the place is a wet, muddy mess. All the paddock area is grass, nothing paved anywhere. So you are always sitting around in the wet muddy grass. At the race a couple weeks ago our pit stall was a giant puddle. The whole fucking thing. Pit road needs repaved too and set up so there is some drainage.

It is by far the shittiest road course facility I have ever seen or could possibly imagine.

Thanks guys

repaving is definately on my proposal
paddock area redo was on the list as was the road to the pits being reworked.
