Need to buy a Battery.....what are your reccomendations?

Had an Optima Red Top that lasted about 10+ years, and being I don't drive the truck much I have been really happy with its performance.

What battery is everyone running these days? Is Optima still the leading brand?

Before I drop a couple hundred on one, I just wanted some opinions.....

From what I have heard, Optimas aren't what they used to be. Production moved to Mexico or something and quality went to shit

The one with the longest warranty and most convenient retailers to do an exchange.

So far I've been happiest with the sealed Meijer batteries for normal applications. If I want something fancy I get a Diehard Platinum AGM.

This may sound weird...Motorcraft.

Mine came with a 7 year warranty. Sold the car after the battery was in it 6 years...never a problem.
 
Autozone gold or whatever advanced auto sells with a $40 off coupon.

I've still had good luck with with the Optima red top. Just bought my third one off Amazon for $152 shipped
 
Johnston Controls make most Batteries on the market today (Delco, Ford, Sears, Interstate.... and 20+ more labels) they are by far the largest battery manufacture.
Between all of their holdings they employ 170,000 people in more than 1,300 locations across six continents (they make more than just batteries)
In January2016, Johnston Controls merged with Tyco International to become a Irish owned company to avoid paying US taxes... (another reason to vote for Trump)

On the other hand
Deka is owned by East Penn Manufacturing located in Pennsylvania.

Ive been using/buying/selling Dekas for a little over 10 years now. They offer some unique batteries that hold up very well.
Deka get my money.
 
So, I've wanted to buy Deka in the past because I've heard so many good things about them. My only problem and main argument against buying them is where the hell do you actually buy them? If you have one die on you and you're not at home, are you going to be able to find a retailer nearby who can warranty it? Or will you have to buy a new battery anyway because there's simply no place convenient to warranty the thing. From what I remember, there are no major retailers that carry them, are there?

I have been happy with both my Interstate batteries from Costco.
If you know how Costco their return policy is awesome.
 
Isn't there a Deka location in centerline? I know I've done work at one but it was a drive to get there.....
