got the car up on the hoist, how do i get these sprins out of here w/o taking anyones head off?? thanks!

ITs called a "Spring Compresser" i THINK they rent them out at like auto zone and what not. There are like 2 or 3 different kinds. i would use the kind with the straps. They tightin with a drill. BE VERY VERY VERY CAREFUL!!!!!!

i have the compressor, it is supposed to go through the middle of the spring, there is no way in hell that it is getting through the a-arm

Raise the vehicle, then lower it onto the jack stands. Keep the vehicle weight on the hoist. Unbolt anything that would cause the spring to stay in the vehicle when lowering. Get a spring compressor and compress the spring then, lower the vehicle enough to get the springs out. (be careful the spring is under HUGE load and if lets go can KILL you.)

heres my dilemma though, i have two different kind of compressors, one is where it has two clamps on the outside and you tighten them evenly to compress the spring, and the other goes through the midddle clamps down from the inside and you tighten it down to compress it, the first one wont work because the spring doesnt decompress wide enough to even fit in there and the second one wont fit through the A-Arm :'( i didnt see any others at autozone or murrays... i understand what these things can do to me, thats why i want to make sure its right :badass:

Ok so neither of these spring compressors will work? I wish a guy that has done thm on one of these would chime in, I have never done a spring change on a mustang. I have other cars, i'm sure someone has some pointers

Car on hoist, support a-arms with jackstands, leaving weight of car on jackstands... remove strut to spindle bolts, slowly raise car, pop springs out.

DAMNIT!!! I was hoping to eventually see a camera phone pic of someone with a beer in one hand and a tool of some sort in the other with a spring lodged in their chest.
