Need some opinions, LT1 car...

I'm with Raj, after owning an LS1 car I had to get another, they run great and very responsive to bolt on upgrades....kinda like the old 5.0's back when it was early 90's
 
I loved my cammed LT1, but if I had it to do all over again, LS1 for sure. They are just a much more powerful, and more reliable engine. And yeah, changing plugs on an LT1 is a bitch.

If I could do it over again, it'd definately would be an LS car. But there's nothing wrong with having the balls to be different.

If you're looking for reliability I'd walk away.

Having owned both LT1 and LS1 F-bodies....my opinion is go with the LS1 car. Faster out the box and better brakes.
 
I love my car(96 z28) but if I had to do it over, I would have just waited to get an LS1 car.

For what I use my car for, it works near perfect.

For fairly stock cars, plugs arnt changed that often, headers are done once, and opti's live for 50,000 miles usually. Ya it sucks doing all of that, but its not THAT big of a deal. And if you do it all at the same time =win.
 
It depends on the build quality of the car. It may be PERFECT, or it may leak, have opti issues, etc. etc. You need to see it in person and be very familiar with LT1's to make a good decision.

the thing that jumps out at me right away is that he used the GM pink rods, which are very weak. When i see one major thing half-assed, im sure there is more issues. It looks clean, but looks can be decieving.

LT1's are not that bad to work on once you learn. Mine is has no opti, coil packs, and LS1 pcm, and a lot of other one-off upgrades that make it not seem like your average junk LT1 car. There are a few LT1 cars I know of in Michigan that will run with or better than an LS car mod for mod
 
i just bought a 95 LT1 ...with a bad opti ..having never had my hands on one...it took about 3 hours to pull it down and get the opti out ..and that with a D1SC stuffed in the way ...not too bad at all...figure if i get 50 K on it before i have to do it again ...it will be in 2017 or 18 ...dont think that too bad ...lol

especially with certain brands of headers.
