I like this car and I'm thinking it'd be worth picking up. Thoughts?

car has the rare red insert seats in it i have a pic of that

car runs awesome. front bumper cover has 2 tiny bubbles right at the turn signal. i have a new front bumper. it definitely does NOT need a new bumper. im sure im forgetting alot of stuff. the car has over $12,000 invested

I WILL ONLY ACCEPT TRADES OF DIESEL 4X4 TRUCKS OR LIFTED JEEPS. IF ITS NOT WORTH $10K, I DON'T WANT IT! NO IMPORT JUNK!!!

That looks like a strong car, but IMO an LS1 car would be a better choice. They are easier to work on, lighter, and can go farther with the stock parts. The new LS engines are truly excellent. If you want an F-body I wouldn't get it any other way than LS powered. My opinion only.

While I tend to favor the LT1 body styles, I agree with Raj. With your budget I'd go LS1 from the beginning especially if it's just a street cruiser, I wish I had.

I plan to use my fun car for 80% street, 20% track. I'd want it to be able to drive to the track and drive it home.

If that is your goal. Then you need to find an LS car. This is coming from a die hard LT1 guy for years. IF i ever bought another Camaro it would be an LS.

Put it this way, on a stock block LS car with a head/Cam/intake/tune you be making more than that guy with WAAAAY less of the LT1 BS to deal with. Broken Optisparks, pain in the ass to work on, etc.

Thanks for the input. Definitely a major decision.

Pass, for the same price you can get an LS car making the same power without nitrous to refill. I love the way it looks, always liked Patriot Red camaros, but they are not cheap to fix, have the opti to deal with, and eventually all leak oil. Stick with new technology, even the newest LT1 is almost 15 years old, which means GM no longer stocks parts for them, so you gotta go hunting

He doesn't need to refill the nitrous, the ad says that power was made on motor alone, which is certainly possible depending on who did the heads. The opti can now be eliminated but you're looking at a roughly $750 investment assuming you can do the wiring yourself.

But yes, oil leaks are a big reason to avoid them, and parts are generally no less expensive than an LS1. Plus, the LS1 bodies are significantly newer which makes cleaner/rust-free ones easier to find.

I've been talking to him a bit today. He just updated the original post with engine bay and interior pics. Check it out. Has a pic of the engine out of the car also.

Yeah, same here, but the early 4th-gen Camaro interiors never did anything for me in the first place.

Another thing to note, that's an awfully large cam for a 355 if you plan on doing mostly street driving. I've also heard that those XFI cams give the valvetrain a real beating. Just things to think about.

Excellent. Seems like you know what you're talking about.

What are your criteria for drivability/power for whatever car you plan to buy? Are you buying a daily driver or a weekend toy? Are you looking for something more race-like that's loud with a large cam and a lot of conveniences gone, or are you looking for something more practical?

This would be a weekend only car where I wouldn't be driving much at all. Probably nothing more than 20 minute trips and then some woodward cruising.

Edit: I would also need to be able to drive to Milan, hopefully not break, and drive back.

Next time you see an LT1 car in person, picture how hard it would be to change the plugs and wires...then price out the POS optispark. Then take a look at how bad ass the new gen engine is. It's a no-brainer.

Good to know as well. Thanks.
