Need some modular motor help ASAP...

stock injectors??? how many lbs of boost?? ive never had a blower car but i almost always see 36 or 42 pound injectors. maybe its running out of fuel up top??

he doesn't have a boost guage in the car or an air/fuel guage but he claims 6-8psi
 
Swap out the existing plugs for a quality replacement that is gapped correctly.

PM "DOCTOR" or just call Lidio for specifications (plug part # and gap)

yeah because the car is worth every bit of 13-16k, the car has some nice ass Brembo brakes, Griggs suspension, Bassani longtubes etc
 
have him take it back to lidio. if he has all these reciepts from there, i am sure lidio would have NO problem looking at it.

if its too good to be true, it usually is.

if the blower has been back to vortech recently. call them. they record everything about the stuff they rebuild. they might have an idea. and it would still be under the rebuild warranty, for the cost of shipping.....send it back


i would say it is NOT in the tune, if lidio did it. and if it is (which it isnt) lidio would fix it for free. assuming nothing has changed from when it was tuned and it hasnt been that long.

if you do get this car dont waist any money or the ridiculus amount of time it takes alternative... livernois can get it in and done right alot faster

Definately don't want to start a tuner war, they are both great tuners and great sponsors of our board. I have heard great things about both!!
 
What does it sound like when it stops revving at 5k? Is there any power or just a sharp drop in power? What does the a/f do past 5k?

You need the extended speed calibrator to convert the trans to mech. speedo but it shouldn't effect the motor

It starts vibrating almost like a redline but kinda like a loss of fuel, car doesn't have an air/fuel or boost gauge
 
I guess my question would be how long he was driving the car like this, and what the root of the problem is. Detonation/missing up top is not a good thing, especially if he has been driving/beating on the car for a while. I know Lidio would not tune the car with stock injectors, and said he could do my car with the 36lb in the kit, but HIGHLY recommended the 42's for my application. I went with the 42's to be safe and have a little room to grow.

I would call Lidio and see what he has to say and if he remembers the car, he might have some ideas as to whats wrong or know. It's really weird the owner just doesn't get the car to run right instead of selling it sooo cheap. Thats kind of a red flag in my book.
 
I would buy it. If things don't work out I would put it back to stock and sell it for $11K. The stock parts are a dime a dozen now.

I'm not sure if I understand the speedo problem but the car won't run well if the ecm can't understand vehicle speed. I had a gear strip out and the car would break up and jerk. Just my $.02.

That's what I was thinking but the performance car market is horrible right now, I'm gonna go back out there today run a comp. check (owner said it was cool) throw some new plugs that are correctly gapped and see what happens. He doesn't have the ESC for the trans so that may be right about the stripped gear situation

In response to syclone- The guy hasn't driven the car or beat on it from what he says, he wouldn't even let me drive the car. But when I go back today I will insist on driving the car.

I am a little nervous due to my situation with my previous (blown)Cobra, so if it's to good to be true it may be. After I look at it today and make my decision I will pass the owners info on to anyone possibly looking for a potential deal.

OK here is a quick update,

Car has 36lb injectors that came with the Vortech kit, receipt from Vortech for compressor rebuild was last August

I went back today to run a compression check, all cylinders have nearly 170-180 psi.

I drove the car today and if you drive the car normal without getting into higher rpms (beating on it) the car runs and drives fine, car sits at a stop light in 90* weather idles fine and doesn't get hot.

But no matter what you do in any gear the car starts to break up at about 5k rpms, almost as is someone put a rev limiter in it. You can dry rev the car above 5k, but when in gear it feels like something won't let it go any higher?

Called Lidio he vaguely remembers the car so he couldn't give me any info
