Need some answers. Not too sure. 83 Mustang.

Alright I have my own opinions as to what it is but I am not 100% sure. Just want more .02. At low R's it idles great, no knocks, tings, or anything. Up till about 2500 3K Its fine. Right when it gets a tad over 3K you hear like a Knocking. If it were a rod knock wouldn't you hear it clearly at idle also? It sounds like a piston slap IMO. But just wanted someone elses.


1983 Mustang GT 5.0 Bored .040 BME Aluminum Rods, Flat top pistons rebuilt heads.
 
I had an 83 back in the day that did that. Ended up being piston slap. But 86-up motors are available and cheap. That's what i did with mine. If it bothers you get one and slap it in.
