Need some advice from my motown peeps please!!

As some of you know, I'm involved with the charity organization that puts on the auction at AutoRama every year selling custom auto related art, pinstriped & hand painted stuff, etc & the money goes to charity. Each member is kind of expected to do something for the stage with some "bling" to help draw in the people. This year I'm doing a pedal car, & I'm gonna flake & Kandy it. I'm looking for advise from parents with small kids, because the pedal car is for maybe 6 yrs and younger kids. I'm debating just doing a custom paint job, or doing the paint and also turning it into a lowrider. If I go the lowrider route I'll have to turn it into a stroller or wagon style car, no more pedals. I just don't know if it'll be worth the work. I don't want to be 100 hours into this thing and see it go for 100 bucks. I don't get paid for my time, which is totally fine, I do get reimbursed for materials though. It's gonna be a lot of work to turn it into a lowrider, but it'll be sooooo much cooler. I need some input from parents on whether a lowrider stroller or pimped out pedal car would be better.

Heres some pics of pedal cars

Or stroller/wagons lowriders

Thanks!!!

Thanks for the input guys, I really appreciate it!! I didn't have a good idea as to what the parents would want. I was thinking if its a stroller/wagon they (parents) have more control of it not getting beat up too bad, but the kid can enjoy it more as a pedal car.

I loved the shit out of my pedal car when I was a kid. Keep it pedal powered. Is it possible to lower it some while still keeping clearance between the pedals and the ground?

I'm going to vote lowrider. Yeah, regular pedal car is cool, but pulling a kid in a lowrider "wagon" around at the cruises and shows would be a lot more unique.

Pedal car. That way the kid is in control of the fun, not the parents. My neighbor pulled me in a pedal car behind his motorcycle. Those pedals really spin at 30 MPH!

Pedal Car would probably get more use, but from a parent perspective... I am more for this (slammed)

Reason being is it is less likely to be banged up and what a better way to show of a new baby. After they outgrow it then it is back to being a baddass show piece! A Pedal car is going to get ruined in no time, and if it ends up being that nice no parent or grandparent is gonna want their mad driving 4 year old tearing it up. JMO

Who wants to transport it around to use as a stroller?? Not many. It will get be to hell in a trunk.

PEDAL CAR FTW!

Hmmm, I’m thinking this idea is going in the right direction.

Most parents don’t avoid a cool toy for their kids because
they’re afraid the kid might “tear it up”. If that were the case,
we’d never buy them anything!

Besides, there is a very good chance this project of yours
will become a collectable / show piece and never be touched
by a kid.

What is the charity you represent?

I thought about the gasser look, but I don't want to turn this into a career. But after seeing those pics I'm gonna have re-think this project. I found a couple pics of ones done up like gassers online, but the ones above are BAD ASS!!

Realistically, it will be unlikely a kid gets to drive a pedal car with a bitchin paint job. More shelf art than anything. Realllly nice shelf art though. I say keep something off the shelf, and put the time into the paint work.

Pedal car. If a parent lets a kid use it they will get 4-5years out of it. If it's a stroller that is only needed for maybe the 1st year. Then it's useless. My dad built both for my nephews. Stroller (with removable push bar for ease of transport) and pedal cars for the boys to play on. They LOVE the pedal cars even though the oldest barely fits in there still.

Last year one of the guys did a vintage pedal tractor up pretty cool and it went for somewhere around 1000 bucks at the auction. I don't know if it ever got ridden or not. I'll have to find some pics. Ultimately we're looking to raise money with the items we auction off. Our charity we're working with is leader dogs for the blind.
