I just had to put my 18 year old cat to sleep on Friday and it was the hardest decision I've ever had to make in my life.
If I could have saved her, I would have spent anything to do it.
When she was 13 she was diagnosed with diabetes. The vet said "it isn't worth the money to try to keep her alive, put her down" I found a new vet, got her healthy and she lived 5 more years.
I did not have a funeral for her, but I did have her cremated.
If they want to have a funeral for the dog, let them be... you don't have to attend.
