I bought my 2002 mustang gt used so i have no back history of the car. The manufacture sticker on the valve cover has a production date of 4/02. My concern is, it currently has the orange top 19lb injectors. Didn't ford switch to pink top 22lb injectors in 2002? I have the maf with integrated iat. Should i be running the 22's?

19# should be right for an 02 GT. Think they switched to 21-22# in the 03-04 GT's.

I think the GTs had 19 and the Cobras had 24s until the Terminator came out. Not 100% sure tho.

I checked my spare engine today witch also has a 02 manufacture date. This one had the pink tops. Again, bought the spare used. I've been having drivability issues with power loss and piss poor gas mileage. I have replaced all the usual cluprets from iac, coils, an plugs down to lash adjusters. She runs better but I still feel sluggish almost a miss or hesitation. Also my drivers side timing chain rattles on start up and had some slack I could feel when changing the valve adjusters. My goal is to stretch the life of the currently installed engine untill a rebuild of the spare is complete. Could take a few mounts. Would a 02 19lb injector engine run with a 03-04 pcm an maf?

Just did some reading on American Muscle and LMRs sites.

19 lb for all GTs until 2005 (2005 got 24)
21 on Cobras with NA mod motors
39 on Terminators

5.0 Fox GTs had 19 and Cobras had 24s

You should be fine with 19lb injectors in stock form

Do you have access to a scan tool? Can you read your short and long term fuel trims? I've seen exhaust leaks suck in air and trick O2 sensors into richening the mixture.
