Need help with Rim/Tire combo

Hi all been asking around for help i have 2 1995 Cobra R rims 17x 9 now was talking with my dad about this he doesn't think i can do all 4 rims of this size on my 89 gt only size you can order is 16 x 8 any info would be great thnx feel free to email me .

I run 17x9 all the way around on my 92. They fit fine, a bit of rubbing at full lock with 255/45/17's up front and I had to roll the front inner fender lips so they didn't rub when i hit bumps. My car is lowered 1.5". Otherwise no problems.

my buddy run's 17x9s all around on an '89. 245/45s up front and 255/45s out back. the fronts REALLY come out to the end of the fender. I think 8's would have been a better fit, especially w/ the tire sizes, but it doesn't look bad.
 
I run 18x9 FR500's all around and I had no problems when I actually drove it.
In the front I run 245/35/18 and 275/40's in the back with aftermarket LCA's
