Need help with oil pressure issues on my 4.6L

I have a 2003 F150 with the Romeo 4.6L in it with 200,000 miles.

Recently I have been experiencing some weird oil pressure issues. I hooked up a mechanical gauge along with the stock sensor. On a cold morning I get around 75psi when I first start it. Once it's warm and i'm doing a constant speed on the freeway and stay under 2200 rpm it hangs out at 50psi and drops to 25psi when I come to a stop. If while i'm driving I take the engine above 2200 for a long period of time (like in a passing situation) It's like someone flipped a switch and the oil pressure drops to 20psi during the accel and once I let off it drops even more to close to 0psi, and turns on the oil light. The only way to get the pressure back up is to shut the truck off for about 30 seconde to a minute and the it's back to 50psi and acts normal until I perform the same manuver again.

I'm thinking that the oil pressure bypass valve is sticking but I would like to hear what everyone else has to say.

chunky Sludge in the pan can do the same thing as well as the bypass valve in the pump. In regard to what larry siad about the ls1 engine that had this problem. Yes they did. The pumps are similar in design to.

On a side note, last night I took my old oil filter and cut it open and found there was no anti drain back valve in it. This was a valvoline filter from a quick lube place (didn't have time to do it myself)...what a piece of junk that filter was. I now know why my engine would tick on the firs start up of the day.

No more quick lube places for me.

Was the element collapsing.
