ok so i started my 89 5.0 for the first time since last year its been sittin in my garage just hibernating...and before last year my bro abandoned it for 4 years...now i got a new battery and it started right up after a few cranks...after it warming up it idled at about 1500 but the thing is after like 20 minutes of keeping it running i turned it off and tried to turn it on again to see how reliable itd be and right when i turned the switch it felt lik something just gave up and brokeand now my ignition switch just turns and nothing happens to it, one of my friends told me its like the ignition wiring harness burnt but idk....i gotta get to the bottom of this, has this happened before?
need help please

Sounds like a bad ignition switch(located on the steering column) or the gear for the ign. cylinder inside the column.

Not really on a Ford. Take the clamshell off, turn the ignition on push in the retainer button, remove cylinder, take snap ring off, pull out blocker plate and its right there.
