Need a little vehicle help

There is a nice mini copper S in town for 5k. Never driven in winter and just rolled 100k. It is a manual transmission car. It is very clean in the pics but it's there anything I should look for specifically on it. It has never been modified either.

My brother had one. His manual trans went out and the dealer wanted $3000.00 to install a used one with a 30 day warranty or $5500.00 for a rebuilt one with a 12 month warranty. There is certain years they had a problem with the manual transmissions. I don't recall what year his was but I can ask if if you want me to. His car was fun to drive. It was like driving peppy go cart.

There is some information about the transmission problems here: http://minicooperforums.com/forum/2...-11/manual-transmission-blown-fix-1097/page2/

Jesus, it sounds like all of them have issues but all of them burned up before 100k miles. Good news is that you can rebuild then in a weekend for about $600 with hand tools.

I'm can't remember what failed on my brother's but there were pieces scattered all over the road. Whatever let loose took out the trans case.

I think you should buy this one. It could be a fun commuter car.

I agree, I avoid Mini’s, very poor records on them.

It is easier to name what I would (& have) buy, varies by model:

Ford
GM
Toyota
Honda
Kia / Hyundai
Mazda

Possibly Jeep / Ram
