Need a 4L60E Trans for my 97 Fullsize 2500

a 97 full size 2500 will have a 4l80e, not a 4l60e.
loss of third & 4th may not necessarily mean the trans needs replacing.
eletronics control the apply of third and 4th.
scan the vehicle first and pull codes.
did you loose reverse also?

a 305 in a full size 2500???
I agree 4L60e's can have selnoid problems that can get fixed by pulling the pan and valvebody.

I ran the rpo's. It's a 305 with a 4l60e. My SES light isn't on. Will it through codes without the light turning on? It always shifted hard on the one, two shift.

2wd, 6 lug, regular cab long bed. Used to be the security truck at one of DTE's yards. I didn't think you could get a 305 in a 97, but when i run the rpo's from several sources on the net here, it always comes up as a 305 with a 4l60e.

I'm almost positive that the 97's were the only year with a Vortec 305. My buddy has a set of heads from one.

can't say ive seen many 2500s that were 6 lug.

this truck is not fixed yet? first post was on the 11th.

i have about 40-50 4l60e's and 20-25 4l80es in stock, some built, some just cores.
anything used thats out of a 1997 is going to have over 100k on it.
