My Turbo Install Thread

If and when I get the big brakes on the car I am not sure if 17" wheels will fit the rears or not. I might get lucky with those 13" rear rotors and calipers fitting in a 17" wheel. If not I would need a 18" DR. We'll see...... And I am not even considering anything like those until next year when I get a better rearend in the car.

03-04 Cobra's come stock with 13" rotors and 17x9 wheels so it is possible to fit. But they are only twin piston calipers, and most "big brake" kits come with larger calipers.

Just food for thought.

I already have the C6 Z06 brakes sitting on my workbench. They were just waiting for these 18's that I finally got on the car. No sense in spending more money when I don't have to. ;) I might be able to fit a 17" wheel on the rears next year if I need DR's.

FYI...

BFG offers an 18" drag radial in 275, 295, 315 and 345.

Updates from Thursday 13Sep07

Picked up the car from PFE with the finished exhaust today. Looks and sounds sweet!!!!! They did a great job. It is a 3"Y at the front into a 4" pipe down the length of the car and over the axle. Back into 3" outlets with bullets in the tailpipes. They gave me an O2 bung for tuning and even made up a better floorpan brace in the process. They were also kind enough to trim my bumpstops as we discovered I had not done enough BFH work to them once the car was on the lift. They welded flanges on the downpipes, and clamped everything so I can disassemble sections of it to service the car. I had wanted twin outlet tips but none were available today so I have the single outlets. May switch to the twin tips later on. Overall I am VERY happy with the look and sound of the exhaust. Can't wait to hear it once I get the car tuned. More vids will definitely follow!

Next I drove it over to drop off with the tuner. We had to fix my EGR blockoff as it was leaking and messing with the idle. We got that all squared away. Phil will tune it and put it on the dyno tomorrow. Unfortunately I am driving to NY tomorrow morning so I won't get it back until Sunday and won't be there to record it on the dyno. But it will be ready and done when I return! Woohoo! Might even have to take it to Milan on Tuesday for the track rental....

I had an exhaust almost exactly like that once, although it was just with standard Dynomax bullets. Sounded great but was loud as hell! Guess the turbos will help with that. ;) What kind of mufflers are those?
 
No clue what brand the mufflers are. They mentioned it and I already forgot. Ha ha.

Here is some video of how it sounds now. Still no tune yet. That will happen tomorrow! More video to follow Sunday when I am back and get the car back all nice and tuned!
