My new truck

The guy is being good about the deal. i may have to spend $150 on a new title, but he's giving me back 1k.
 
Yeah, it's gonna work out, it's just a pain in the butt. We're trying to get ahold of the Tennessee title holder right now, because he may be able to get a "lost" replacement quicker and cheaper. Going through Broadway Title takes 10-12 weeks.
 
WOW!!! in a very bizzarre twist of events that I can't begin to do justice to, I know longer possess this truck! So I'll still be looking for a "new" ride....Maybe I'll post the story when I can wrap my head around it, right now I feel like I just took part in a Cohen brothers movie:)

I think I had mentioned before that it wasn't quite in as good of shape as I was hoping when I got it, but I payed for it anyways. Then I went to register it and the title was all jacked up. The guy I bought it from was gonna give me a grand back and for all of this, and I was gonna keep the truck and we were gonna work on getting the title. He had been trying to get the previous title holder in Tennessee to work with me, because if he could just get a new title and sign it over to me it would be all good. This guy was being difficult, because he felt taken advantage of....I guess he sold the truck to one guy who the next day traded it to the guy I bought it from. And it was never taken out of his name, because neither of those guys got it registered. All of a sudden Saturday night he changes his mind, calls the guy I bought it from and tells him to have me call him directly and he'll get me the title. So I'm stoked, this is gonna work good, be cheaper than broadway title and I'll get it much quicker. So I call him, he says he'll hook me up, I give him my address, and then he tells me he already junked the title and he got my address to call the Michigan State Police to tell them to take the truck off the road!

At this point I was stunned. I hung up and my wife and I were kind of flipping out due to the money involved, the fact that I had a truck that wasn't "mine", and I really didn't know if he was gonna tell them it was stolen or what. So I called him back and told him to give me some time to work it out, and tried to explain to him that I wanted the same thing he wanted, to get the truck out of his name. I talked to him for a long time, my WIFE talked to him for a long time, and he finally said "well, let me call you back, maybe." What the hell. So I called the guy I bought it from and told him he needed to take the truck back, i was done with it. He was furious(not with me, but with what the other guy did), and told me to give him a minute to see what he could do. He got ahold of the first guy, and somehow convinced him that I was trustworthy even though he wasn't. He calls me back and tells me the first guy will now REALLY work with me, and I said no, you're gonna take the truck back and give me my money. Then the first guy calls me and tells me he'll work with me and send me the title, he doesn't trust the guy I bought it from.

I've left out other things, like the original guy telling me I got ripped off by paying that much for the truck, both guys giving differing storys about what went between them on the phone, the first guy changing his stories many times, and the fact that the first guy had the thickest hillbilly accent you've ever heard.

I've got to go to work now, there is a little more I can fill in later....
 
I was just writing out the rest of the story, but it's just convuloted and confusing. Bottom line is, sunday night my wife and I met the seller's wife and him at the same place I picked it up. I wasn't gonna take a chance that the first guy wasn't gonna send the police to my house looking for a stolen truck. The seller has been cool and apologetic through the whole thing, and it's pretty much over now. I'm still looking for an early-mid 50s ford truck, but I may just wait until spring.
