What's going on with how the axle connects?

Not sure where exactly to go with this. It's a coil spring suspension with 3 linked in the rear (two ladders and a panhard), front pretty similar. I'm tempted to go coil-overs to get a better ride, control over suspension, and travel. Axles are portal, so you have gear reduction in the hubs, getting your axle center-line higher than the hub/wheel center-line. That help?
